Chris Rat ou makes a complete twit of himself

This nz mong has gone bonkers. I warned years ago that quotas would be hugely detrimental to Sa in terms of performance and by causing division. Here is what rat ou is suggesting:

Cape Town - A New Zealand scribe feels the South African national rugby team should no longer be called Springboks.

The build-up to Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer naming his Rugby World Cup squad last Friday was overshadowed by talks of the racial composition of the side.

Meyer was under pressure to meet transformation requirements and according to SARU’s strategic transformation plan, the “target” for this year’s World Cup was 30% players of colour.

Meyer obliged by picking 9 players of colour in his 31-man squad.

Chris Rattue, a columnist for the New Zealand Herald, took note of these political rumblings and gave his own opinion on the matter.

“It's high time for the Springbok to leap like a gazelle into history, for South African rugby to signal a bold future and new mentality by finding another name for their national rugby side,” Rattue  wrote on Wednesday.

“The Springbok team is dividing at home before they try to conquer at the World Cup. Debate over the racial makeup of the side has exposed wounds and opened a window on their rugby and society. It is an ugly and hopeful debate all in one, but the opportunity to use it for good needs to be taken."

Rattue feels the Springbok logo should have been scrapped at unification back in the 1990s.

“The Springbok symbol was so closely associated with the disgusting apartheid system, was so much an icon of white domination and self-indulgent cruelty, that it should have been retired in the mid-1990s when the evil segregation laws were eliminated.”

One good thing about all this is that the racist anc policies are becoming more widely known.

Let us accept the fact that what we once had is no longer possible.

The "Springbok" is long dead.

We see a team filled with racist quotas ... enforced upon us by the government and all it's supporters.

They have tainted the Springbok name with their filthy hands. What we see now is a watered down version of the original.

Let us take our rich Springbok history and bring it to a close.

This that we see now is not something we can be proud of.

As in everything they touch ... it's all turned to s-hit!!!

Same as Bafana Bafana and the Proteas.

Our beloved Bokke belong to an era long gone.

It's sacred and should be remembered for what it stood for. The pride of a nation.

Wardad, the "darkie" comment explained a bit:

1. I know it sounds offensive and is to some, but generally it's not frowne d upon over here, depending on context.
2. In the Western Cape, the "coloureds", are descendants of the Koi and San people, with a bit of Malay and European thrown into the mix. They are of a lighter pigmentation than what the rest of the world see as "African Blacks"
3. They have a much more relaxed outlook on life than the rest of us Saffas, with a unique, but very sharp sense of humor.
4. Because we come from a segregated past due to Apartheid and because we are still inclined to put persons in certain "boxes", the "Capies" as we call them, refer to white people as whiteys and "African Blacks" as "darkies", referring to the darker than their own complexion.
5. Although I don't use these terms, in general it is not deemed offensive over here.
6. Back to the comment from the article. He was referring to "African Blacks" and the substantial difference in culture, and his obvious dislike thereof...which makes his comment even more racist as what you experienced it to be.

I hope I did not offend anyone with my small lecture, Blob, Chippo, Freddy, what do you think? Please put me in the right if I'm off track here.
To Kiwi's and other nationalities, we know we are an odd bunch here on the bottom of Africa, but I think we like it like that while most of us get along most of the time...but we have our fair share of idiots too.

People are too damn sensitive these days.

It's either that or they're trying to impress us all by being "politically correct" ... whether it's heartfelt or not is irrelevant.

 I tend to agree that a name change is necessary - because what is happening at present in selections are besmirching the name of the Springboks o f the past. 

 Cloudy:  Rattue is a Pom who seems to delight in being contraversial. Bit of a pain if you ask me but some must like him because he doesn't go away.

Cloudy pkease dont mention the very honourable Justin Marshall in the same breath as rat ou. I do hope rat ou will not be voted kiwi journalist of the year! HAHAHAHA. Kbbs in a spot of bother.
