The camera work isn't great, but these were some of the best tries ever.
What made Cullen so good was that he did not need to slow down when sidestepping people,  or he could stop start instantly.
Perhaps the golden era of professional rugby when small backs were able to make more impact on the game.
Seeing Cullen in the news recently brought back memories when he played for the Hurricanes with paper thin crinkle forwards with 30% possesion.

Yes, the era of small backs...
Jonah Lomu, Emile Ntamack, Joe Roff, Chris Latham and little Ben Cohen.

Miss those old days of small wings and fullbacks.

On a more friendly note, Cullen was probably the most incredible runner ever to grace rugby union....
My G0d he was great!

I used to literally sh1t in my pants everytime he ran at the Boks! Created tries out of absolute nothing!
He shifted gears, direction and evaded tackles like a knife melted butter!

@Zippo I did not say all the Backs were small, I said a time when small backs made "more"  of an impact.

Paulse caught him from behind on one occasion I recall, but they were both blazingly fast. I thought Cullen's vision was his main attribute, look at how many of those tries came from long sprints to get himself in position to take the last pass.

Whats the saying about a good big bloke beating a good small bloke ? We may be seeing a resurgence of the smaller faster skilled backs with guys like Milner-Skudder and Damien Mackenzie .You saffas used to have have some fast deadly little guys of your own at various times despite the popular image of Bok teams being all lumpen forwards and sharpshooters.

There's some really talented small backs in the wee stormers team. The stormers had a bad game last week but they have scored some amazing tries this season. The little guy with a lot of talent can still play this game... for a while at least.

Here is another clip, these are all Cullen's 46 test tries.

I've looked hard for anyone whose collection of test tries are even remotely as impressive as Cullen's . . . Lomu, Habana, Campese . . . none come even close.

Rupeni Caucaunibuca is the only competition and very few of his tries came in test matches.
