Sorry - the Lions put up a fight - but I felt that they would lose by 18 points and that was very near the mark. There is a problem with their backline and the only player I thought did reasonably well was Combrinck.
Amongst the forwards I think Marx, Mostert and Brink did well - with Dreyer and Van Rooye n as well. Not sure about Whiteley though will have another look at him,

We were always going to be up against it. The Saders are a class outfit.
I felt we had our best shot at the title last season ... but that was taken from us with the red card.
To be honest ... I expected we'd have a lot more difficulties this season, without key players and the absence of Ackermann. Not too shabby for Swys' first outing as head coach.
I enjoyed the fact that he was prepared to play mind games with the opponents. Shows a little boldness. I like that.
Our midfield sucks big time. Perhaps it's time to do as Plum suggested ... play Kwagga at 13. Can't be any worse than Mapoe and Vorster.
This season is done and dusted ... so I guess we now wait for Mondays announcement. I wonder how many Lions will make the squad. Probably only Marx, Mostert, Whiteley and Dyanti.
The backs were a collective non-entity. Dyantyi was the only one who brought some energy and actually looked dangerous. What was the reason behind him not starting?
Combrinck made a good break early on and was poor for the rest of the game. Missed the tackle for the Saders first try after an ineffective tackle on the other wing just a minute before, threw some wild passes, hardly featured in anything else. Cronje's slow, floaty passes did little to help the Lions momentum. Jantjies disappeared as he always does in tough games. Coetzee is a shadow of the somewhat effective player he was a year ago. Seeing how little strike power the Lions actually have out back casts a bitter reflection on the rest of SA's super sides. If our best side is this average, just how poor are the others?
