What is so funny Gonzo, you had him as a failed 10! Is this attack on Oom Mike an attempt to divert the focus from your own blunder? It's OK to have different opinions, but please, please show a bit of respect to your elders! You seem like a snot nose hounding Mike just for laughs. Real bully mentality from where I stand. Grow a pair man.

Bonzo the Apemoron
You even got the game date wrong. The test against Australia was in 1997 and was in Pretoria - where Frik du Preez had to intervene with the crowd and called on them to support the Springboks - yet your club of Moron Bulls Supporters boo-ed Monty playing at 12 until he scored a try originating from near the Springbok 22 from a quick line out throw-in. Momty ran through the whole Aussie side and scored one of the best tries I have ever seen. For the record the flyhalf that day was Honibal - dimwit.
Du Plessis - a brave coach who said that the big failure of the Springboks were not being able to score tries because of dimwit rugby was the coach who select that team. Viljoen was not the coach in 1997 in any test series - you even got that one wrong. Mallett was appointed as coach after Du Plessis was wrongfully sacked and that test was the start of the 17 run of consequent wins by the Springbok team. You absolute moron. I do not know where you got that list from om amy event - proibably from Wikipdia . There is no doubt in my mind that Monty that day wore the number 12 jersey.
What a bloody fool we have here - he does not know anything about rugby.

Mike, are you saying Monty never played at 13 for the Boks?

Montgomery never played at 12, he recieved his first international caps as a 13. He also initially played for the Stormers or perhaps it was WP in the curry cup as a 13.
He has played flyhalf for the Boks, fullback, outside centre, and I believe even some games as a wing- but never a 12. He is not physical enough for an inside centre.
When he started he was actually not physical enough for anything, and he then bulked up on creatine.
Before he bulked up his attacking game was sublime. He was maybe the most fleet footed rugby player I have ever seen, with a step that could avoid tackles even if the game was held in a telephone booth. He was like a Christian Cullen, but he lost some of that ability after bulking up.

Correct, he only played outside and never inside...July '97 he played o/s centre for the Boks against the Br Lions...cannot remember what position when played at first team at SACS...flyhalf I think. Classical case how some players can come of age once they find their niche.

Yeah, I just wanted Mike to know there are videos on Youtube that will prove him wrong - including one of the long range try from the quick lineout against Australia where Monty is quite clearly wearing a #13 jumper.

Gonzo, you are a coward. You have some valid rugby points, but you fck it up by showing your bias. I don't agree with Mike much, but at least he is a honest poster. You have been posting under a few nics on here and every time you gets backed into a corner, you start a new nic. Moerse! Vlag, Mozard and kie, you have been entertaining this arsehole for as long as he has been on here, yet you call all the BS of some of the other posters. Double standards I say, Etzebeth over rated, Brendon Venter is an idiot and Percy was a failed FH. Gonzo, you are a fraud and I won't be surprised if you disappear like like's Sun Tzu when called out.
Liar...Liar,,,Arsehole!!!!

Sharkbok the size you hrt from creatine is water absorbtion, not muscle. but creatine does help you recover and get a few extra reps in thw gym. atp increase. but yeah he bulked up a hell of a lot. true about his pace going but his positional play made up for that.

Bonzo the Apemporon.
I may have been wrong with the position Monty played in - but he at least did play. You have fouled up worse. You said that Viljoen was the coach, while he never once coached the Springboks in any game played in 1997.
You went bananas about Monty at 13 and said he fouled up - yet he scored one of the best tries ever at Loftus Versveld.
Your knowledge of player performances is abysmal and your bias absolute BS. But then you rate players like Morne and Dransie - players who failed miserably in 2014 and want them in the Springbok team - so that is the joke of the centry

Mike, he did not say Viljoen was the coach in 1997. He said Monty played 6 games at flyhalf under Viljoen, and made his debut in 1997. Those are two separate statements.
You are coming across as a dishonest person now. Refusing to own up to making a mistake (it's not a case of MAY have been wrong, you WERE wrong), and fabricating mistakes for others to play down your own embarrassment.
And of course then you drag Morne and Frans Steyn into the discussion again. What a mess.

another lie mika i never went bananas about him playing 13 . i just said that he DID play 13. hahahaha! my gripe was with him ar 10 and hiw he vame back at 15. again i never went bananas it judt a list of players who failed at 10 and ended up being fulkbacks in thr rbd. you coukd have just read what i said and accepted it but you called me names before making a complete titty of yourself in a series of mistakes. why? i dont think your as thick as some say but you are way too eager to indult people and sling mud when you dont hear what you like and dont keep track if what you are saying. the pouint of this thread was to highlight that issue. be more honest boet! its not your opinion thats offensive its how you lie and sling mud.
