Okay, so Clever Mike has been smearing the same lie on a few threads about me saying Folau is a substandard player. I asked him to prove it but he won't, yet he continues with the same lie. Here's the conversation we had and how it started etc.

Lurker

Let me explain a few things - an aimless kick  where it involves just handing over possession to the opposing team.   It is where kicks cannot be followed up effectively and poorly directed - ie straight into the hands of a waiting recipient.

There are two types of kicks that are acceptable, namely -

*   strategic kicks being part of an attack strategy eg dribble kicks near the opposition try-line and cross kicks.

*    relieving kicks - but they must be so directed that a quick throw-in is not possible.

In 2013 South Africa kicked at Folau because he couldn't kick. So he got pinned back and had to to concede penalties. In 2014 they did a similar thing and Folau tried to kick it out but gave the Boks lineouts in and near the Australian 22. Effective kicks depend on numerous things. A good press and chase means the ball carrier has few options and is under pressure. Pressure leads to errors. I

Lurker

Beware of making sweeping statements,   Folau is the most dangerous player in the world to kick balls at - he is the most effective high kick catcher ever and a continuous threat when it comes to counter-attacks.   I have never seen his alleged poor kicking ability,

"Be careful of making sweeping statements"

"Morne was probably the worst 10 South Africa ever had"

I know I've been guilty of being angry with him at times. He really had a difficult 2012 and got dropped but worst ever? Defenders ignored him? Nobody ignores a 10 all game. Folau did contribute to the Boks victory. Catching the high ball is one thing, doing something with it is another. He was useless running it back from deep and getting turned over. On one occasion a try resulted from him being trapped and his teammates being desperate to relieve pressure made errors. In 2014 he continually fluffed kicks and the Bok had close in line outs that gave their maul a platform to build pressure. You are denying facts. Being dishonest. This is what I asked you not to do in my first post.

The full back recognized as the best in the world at present is criticized by you and Morne never attacking the gain line and was  ignored by defenders is real,   He was always standing too deep in the pocket and  to be effective and his kicking game was a farce.

So I followed up by posting a match report that of the 2013 test that showed I wasn't lying and Clever Mike used that to say I was trying to attack Folau on a personal level. Which in my view is pretty sick thing to do.

Here's the thread of the full discussion: https://www.ruckersforum.com/forum/rugby/jake-white-on-coaching/26507/

You did post contributions to the above - but if you do not regard what you wrote about is negative and unjustified about Folau you must be kidding,

To say I lie about what you yourself wrote is BS and that is a fact,

Saying Folau doesn't have a great kick is an opinion.....an opinion I share. And I think he is a great fullback, but certainly not as complete as Ben Smith or Le Roux. Saying Fleck wasn't tackled 4 metres out is yet another lie by you .....as agreed by everybody who opined on the incident.

Mozart

Why use the name Lurker and then make BS claims about Folau.   He is the best full back in the world under high balls and since he it an excellent try scorer in both Super Rugby and in tests for the Aussies the claims of Lurker (also you) is BS.   Folau regularly counter-attacks and rarely kicks balls away - kicking being in your book the only thing that counts.

So now the diversion again.   So suddenly Fleck is tackled four meters out but his whole body is in the in-goal area where he landed, and lost ball possession,   When that BS is queried the response is "momentum".  Fine - but then momentum should be taken into account in all cases - since you ignore it  in most other cases where it fits your argumenta,

Please stop the diversion issue  as it is recognized as standard BS on your part..

Israel Folau is easily the best 15 in test rugby today. There is no-one better under the high ball and let's face it he's a major threat to any defense.

I would exchange him for the over rated Le Roux in a heart beat.

Anyone who prefers the brainfarting Le Roux over him needs his head read.

Le Roux ... a complete full back??? You have got to be kidding me. He is way down the pecking order when it comes to the best in the business. That's about as desperate a statement as I've seen on here. Haaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaa!!

Ben Smith is a great 15. Far better than Le Roux will ever be ... but he has grown a little long in the tooth and is by no means the man he once was.

I think I'll find something else to occupy myself with until the RC starts again. This imbecilic man-child is turning any discussion on this board into a tedious mess.

Don't worry Mike, it wasn't momentum. It was a flock of invisible faeries.

Wee Willy LeRoux a complete fullback?
Thanks for the laugh!
Mentioning the very average and non-tackling Wee Willy in the same breath as the great Ben Smith is an insult and that comparison could only be made by someone with no appreciation or understanding of what it is that a fullback is supposed to do.
Notsoclever Mike and his pal Walter Mitty are both fools and their neverending bickering litters this forum with the kind of ridiculous nonsense we see on this and many other threads. Maybe the two old farts should start a private email communication and leave the rugby discussion to people who know something about rugby and who tolerate opinions that differ from theirs.

Ka mate

You are not seeing the full picture in the case o ben Smith.  Sill a good full back - he has started to show signs of slipping from his high position as a player and this became apparent in Super Rugby this year.   His age of 32 is showing and he will keep on going down faster and faster - sad to say..

Old Maaikie, I've always found you a pleasant okie but maybe like Matfield, it's time to call it a day...we are all not getting any younger and there is a time when old age plays havoc with our reasoning and memory...you are losing the plot and I'm trying to say it in a kind way.

PS I believe Mikey makes mistakes unintentionally and does not lie deliberately but just makes errors but his mistake is he defends this because he hates his state of old age...Mikey it would be better to admit your errors and apologise...people would respect you far more if you were humble...
