His scrumaging performance was not good in the time he was on the field. Not sure if he is cutt out to be a tighthead. He got totally buckled and even lifted off the floor.

Too early to tell. He did not drive the ball up as excellently as usual either. The main thing is that the injury stays away and that he can gather momentum. Some scrums were fine. Tighthead is a whole new ball game for him. Prefer him as a loosehead but hope he makes it as a tigthhead.

yet another topic i have been voicing a strong opinion on. connie at tighthead is good for his career from an injury point of view, but not performance wise.

what happened against the sharks also happened when he came on for the Boks in sowetto when the Boks were destroyed by the All Blacks.

the way he puts down for a scrum, i see a lot of hesitation in him, nothing like in the spXV 2011 when he was SA form prop.

hope he comes right, but i think the cheetahs injury curse has claimed another top player.

We tend to confuse effort with potential. Like Heinke van der Merwe, Coenie put huge effort into scrumming before his injury. A guy like the Beast is in cruise control, until he senses a weakness, which he certainly did against the Cheetahs on Saturday.

Coenie was never as good as Heinke in the scrumming department. And Heinke ceased having an effect when he encountered the real pros of the front row.

This kid's family should encourage him to retire.....the way his back was bowing on Saturday, feet partially lifted, put all the pressure on his neck.

A big issue with the Cheetahs side is that they have no grunt at lock. They started with young de Jager at lock but he was subbed at halftime.

Os seems to think Coenie will make a great tighthead, but he needs a platform to work with. That will never happen if the Cheetahs have flankers at lock.

Its going to be tough for the Cheetahs this season come scrum time. Naka needs to wake up and show faith in the 125kg de Jager in order to add grunt. He had a solid enough half, not sure why he was subbed - much like poor v/Zyl at 9.

Naka does not inspire me with confidence
