So Coenie is on his way back to be assessed again. Perhaps he gets the green light, but would that be wise? Last time this happened fans took comfort in the fact that a specialist said he could play. For my part I just couldn't see how a player can play test front row once the neck was compromised....did we ever see the same Lucas von Biljon after his neck injury?
I wish Coenie every bit of luck, how galling it must be to know you have the capacity to be a test great, only to be let down by your superman body. This guy is the natural successor to Os du Randt....a potentially all time great loosehead. Personally I never thought he was as good on the tighthead side, but certainly functional under de Villiers' tutelage.
I see he , like Louis the other Oosthuizen, is sometimes called Shrek. Must be something in the family genes. Personally I always think of him as a Rabban Harkonnen in Dune, a close look alike and another destructive force.
I hope we see him back, he is one of the really enjoyable players to watch. But I also hope that decision is reached with the perspective that he still has 60 plus years to live in that body.
