have been given more than enough time to deliver, there's an old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...well the Stormers and WP rugby is broke and it needs fixing. Gert Smal a one time Boks forwards coach failed to impress me as he failed to impress with the Boks forwards. So is his appointment going to mean the same stew with the same flavour? We live in hope.

No doubt they haven't delivered denny and a change is necessary. That said, the Stormers have a strange squad....no halves of distinction, a lightweight hooker, no locks after the injuries....and old carthorse Taute now at fullback. I'm not sure any coach can do much with that squad. The slippery slope started with the Jantjies/T aute trade.

 Yes there were some poor selections but then I look at the Melbourne Rebels and especially the Western Force and even the Brumbies, sides who looked they've been coached not like a rag tag Stormers side who simply lack ideas and direction.

Little Gio Aplon consistently showed some dynamic over the years and noticeably the Stormers backline went flat being stuck with the carthorse De Allende after his departure, then also why they persist with Brock Harris is beyond reason.

You don't need superstars to generate functional play, just proper coaching. The Stormers do not have a tactical brain guiding them, fresh out of ideas they are. Eloff beat the Crusaders in New Zealand with a very limited group of individuals, and that was  a much stronger Saders side than what we have seen the past few seasons. Why can't the Stormers do anything more than tackle with far more at hand?
