I promised an overseas members a realistic repot on some players who caught the eye:-

Damian Willemse

I could not believe what I saw today -  this guy did things better than Montgomery did – he has something of an HOO de Villiers in him.   He was the key player involved of 4 of the 6 WP tries and his positional play and reading of the game was 100%.   Really an exceptional player at 20 years of age.

Juarno Augustus

This guy was with reason the Player of the Tournament in the 2016 Umder 20 WC.    He is huge in size and  strong but with good speed as well.   This guy always showed that he is an exceptional candidate for Higher Honours

The performance of this player was very, very good.

Wilco Louw

I think that Louw was very good in the first five scrums – followed by two below par scrums and then again a top scrums.   Louw struggled in the two below par scrums.

Outside scrumming he was a nightmare – giving away 2 penalties and knocking  balls on 2 occasions,

I would say based on the above he was 5/10 iro of a return to the

Ruan Nel

Ruan Nel had a very good game.  On attack he was good and his defense was the same.  Same can be said of his passing game.

Ross Cronje

This guy Was completely overshadowed by Louis Schreuder.   Must be said the forwards of the Lions was not up to standard and he sometimes got bad balls, but this guy is not a candidate to remain in the squad.

Sbu Nkosi

A very quiet game  = acceptable in all respects.

They were not showing the matches on Sky.

Good to hear about Willemse, apparently he was going to start against Australia, but that may now have changed with Leroux now available for both tests.

Is Le Roux available for the last two tests?  I did not know that.   Last I herd he was not.

If he is I think Willemse will start a flyhalf since he needs game time in tests.   He should - because he is ten times better than Jantjies.

Was he 10 times better when he threw that intercept?

AO

That one pass was a career-defining moment we will hear from you for the next five years.   Keep the silliness up - it is really a frace and I LMAO.   Just as an aside - how many such passes has Jantjies made?

I will give you another name for the future - Simelane.  The guy is a 13 who will make Am, Mapoe and Kriel look like amateurs.

Cheers Mike, how did Simelane get on?He has yet to start for the Lions but he features heavily off the bench for them. I'm hoping they keep him at 13 but he can play at wing and sometimes is picked there, which I'm not enthusiastic about.

You have a poor record picking out centres. I'll take your word for as much as the fluff in your belly-button.

As for Willemse. He is talented, but a few of his decisions exposed a lack of composure and experience. Why ruin the kid? Throwing him into the ring with Foley, Barrett et al is reckless.

And you have a worse one picking out any player in any position on the field of play because you cannot identify players objectively without prejudice.  One can take nothing you wrote without a bag of salt - a pinch will just not be enough.

But then careless non-thinkin is your real problem.   There is no way that Willemse will not be in the WC squad and unlike what your hero Meyer did Erasmus is not going take players with minimal experience to the WC.    He will always make solid selections and will not select hospital ward cases like Meyer did.

Willemse needs experience and  he will get it.  What few experiences have you identified or is it just the start of another prejudice campaign by you?
