Congratulations are in order for Springbok legend Schalk Burger who became a father on Monday.

The all-action flank may still be recovering from a knee injury which is expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the year, but he will have his hands full dealing with his baby son - Schalk Burger.

With Schalk Burger senior and Schalk Burger junior having both represented the Springboks, there will be great things expected of the latest addition to the Burger clan, and with a name like that he is surely destined for the Green and Gold.

Congrats Schalk on your greatest achievement yet, and may he don the Green and gold to honor the name he has.

Ek he was in the Kingsbury hospital but was on crutches my source informed me. But yes a big contrats to Schalk.

Wonder how his rehab is going. This is not looking good but the man has great courage and determination and if anyone can come back it is Schalk.

Congrats to Shalck and his wife - as well as the whole Burger family.

However after hearing what Beeno said about him still using crutcjhes more than 7 months after his injury - should he be able to play rugby again?  I doubt it very much - and if I have any contact with him would advise him against it - a further injury could result in serious health problems for him.

The friendliest person ever on a rugby field - really nice guy.

If Schalk Burger Senior is the father of our Schalk Junior the injured rugby ples ayer- what does that make the son of Schalk Burger junior.Double Junior. The reason middle schalk is still using crutches is that the operation had to be performed again. I think. If he has returned before a broken neck he should make it back again

Correct Sharkbok he has had another operation. Schalk has said that the doctor has said that the op was a success and he will be fine. He will start physio in 6 weeks time.

Seems that he will in fact be back.

I have not met him personally but I think he comes across as an excellent guy. One of the great Boks of all time.
