Not entirely convincing - but nevertheless a win.    

Much appreciated Hakwa. They repaid my faith in them and almost played out my predicted score. Pretty much what I expected. 

There were some. Very good things about this win, and then some bad. Thus team is all about the forwards and the halfbacks. 

Their needs to be experimentation in the midfield before the world cup. The current team is not likely to be able to beat the All Blacks or Ireland. 

They do have a decent chance of being able to win back to back games against the other teams, but they would be some close matches.

Teams are marking Willie Leroux as the playmaker to try to take him out of the game.

I think this team can beat NZ in the World Cup. Ireland, at this time, would be a bad match up. They can blunt all of our strengths and hit all of our weak spots hard. 

I think Willie is relied upon too much. However, as the link, he isn't as much of a threat as we believed, as he often chains the halfbacks with a dead end centre. So our wings don't get much ball. Willie has notched up numerous assists, but given how much ball he has had, 8.5% of all possession (third highest by 1.2%), there is a problem here. Fullback receives an awful lot of possession, our wings are often frozen out. 

AO - just a question = was that not even more the case in the 2015 WC - when Meyer concocted the idea that the ball must not go out to the backline and the flyhalf received less than 25% of the balls passed by the scrummie and Willie so frozen out of contention that he was eventually discarded by Coetzee and even by Meyer - who was rudely awakened by the Japan disaster when he was forced to change players and had to remove some of the players who became unusable or were injured after having too many players who hardly played rugby in the two years before the WC in the squad.   The end result was a total freezing out of the wings by Meyer.

I think that Erasmus is trying to get a higher trajectory in place and  we cannot judge what happened this year as a norm.   He has achieved this year what Meyer failed to achieve in 2012 - but the team has a far way to go and that with only seven tests remaining before the WC in 2019 is a hard nut to crack.   

For the first time in years there is some reason for optimism about the Springboks - something which was never the case under Meyer and Coetzee.
