Cooper: I can't stop the booing

Wallabies playmaker Quade Cooper has put all thoughts about being public enemy No.1 to bed with a diplomatic display at Wellington International Airport on Wednesday.

Cooper came on late in the second half last Saturday to jeers from Sydney's ANZ Stadium crowd as the All Blacks secured an emphatic 47-29 victory in the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship opener.

Kiwi fans at the stadium dined out at Cooper's expense as they sought to remind the Tokoroa-born first-five of his standings as the disliked sportsman across the Tasman.

Cooper and the rest of the Australia contingent arrived on Wednesday and told reporters he wasn't sure how to react to calls for the booing to end from his team as well as the All Blacks.

"You take it as it is because...I don't really know how to take that," Cooper said.

"I'm just looking forward to the game and hopefully (we can) get a win over here."

Questions around whether Cooper enjoyed playing the All Blacks, and subsequently facing a hostile New Zealand crowd, were also dealt with in a cool, calm and collected manner from the Australia first five-eighths.

"Obviously [the All Blacks] are the best team in the world and you look forward to playing them and more often than not the atmosphere is always something to look forward to.

"Everyone's entitled to act however they want to act and whether it's appropriate or not I'm not the judge of that," he said.

Coming to New Zealand didn't just mean an expected outpouring of scorn and outcry for Australia No.10. Cooper acknowledged New Zealand was where he was born and that it was still home to a lot of family and friends for him.

"Hopefully come Saturday night we'll put in a good performance and go home to Australia as winners."

The moral fabric of society in kiwiland must be very low to even get so much press on this topic.... anyway we already knew this - but echo his thoughts and hope to get a win against the heavily favoured kiwis with hometown adavnatge.... something wallabies don't have - I echo the thougts of Kearnsy last night - perhaps we just ban them from our stadia...

Thanks Red but taking the moral high ground is a bit rich coming from the son of a sheep stealer.

You seem to keep forgetting that you're the one living in the convict colony.

Not everyone is booing him though. Just seeing him get smashed will be enough for some of us.

It's definitely a little lesson though  for Kiwis that want to play for Australia as we want to discourage the practice.

Hopefully he gets through the match in one piece. I'm picking he won't be able to unload the ball fast enough.

Booing a player incessantly like this is very poor of the kiwi fans but what can one realistically expect. Even our lady Cloudy is showing no remorse  - an indication of how deep the problem is

Cry baby Cooper had it coming.

It's not as if this just happened out of the blue. He played his card and now he must bear the consequences.

I hope the kiwis never quit booing this prick!!! Not ever!!!

Just win its always a pleasure mentoring my good kiwi friends. I have to be honest for a moment and say I have been impressed by their good humour and fun loving ways.

Now please back to business. The main point I need to make is the abs suck BIG time and are set for a fall. Are they emotionally prepared for this.

Rubbish CC booing a player all the time like this is boorish and boring. Its also vindictive. The kiwis need to get over themselves and appreciate that many of their countrymen flee nz given an opportunity.

Disagree Beany ... Cooper deserves all he gets.

I personally hope it follows him to retirement.
