New Zealand Maori coach Colin Cooper is set to replace Dave Rennie as head coach of the Chiefs according to reports.


Stuff say that Cooper is set to be unveiled before Christmas as the new boss for the two-time Super Rugby champions, who enjoyed great success under Rennie during his time in charge.


Rennie is heading to Scotland to take over as head coach of Glasgow Warriors.


Cooper spent eight years with the Hurricanes between 2003 and 2011, making the playoffs on numerous occasions and losing out in the 2006 final.


He has since enjoyed provincial success with Taranaki, winning both the Mitre 10 title and the Ranfurly Shield.

 thought it was going to be for the 2018 season,... but seems that it's inminent

don't know this Cooper,... except the great campaign with Taranaki 2 years ago,... but the loss of Dave Rennie cannot be positive,... he ha s a great rugby knowledge

  Cooper to take over Chiefs reins in 2018

Colin Cooper will take over as coach from Dave Rennie in the 2018 Super Rugby season the Chiefs and New Zealand Rugby announced.


Cooper has been appointed as Head Coach of the Super Rugby team on an initial three-year term, succeeding Dave Rennie who will depart at the end of the 2017 season to coach in Glasgow, Scotland.


The current Maori All Blacks and Taranaki Mitre 10 Cup Head Coach has been coaching professionally for over 20 years, including eight seasons as Head Coach of the Hurricanes from 2003-2010.
