He was very impressive today against the Sharks.
A smart skilful player that always keeps the ball alive, either through offloads or pop passes from the ground.
This creates a high-tempo game that is unpredictable creating space for others to score.

He is still a very fast runner, and his pace over the 1st ten metres is as good as ever.

He is playing outside centre at the moment, but he was also good at inside centre- before initially starting as a winger.

Given the world cup is less than 12 months ago, I think Cornell Hendriks should be the backup outside centre to AM. Much better than Jessica Kriel.
A handy utility player from the bench.

David Kriel is very good at competing in the highball. He could be effective in the Rasnaber game plan.

No thanks at 34 he is too old and having him as our back up would be pathetic given how good Henco v Wyk is at the moment Back up options to Am should be one of JVR or Henco v Wyk David Kriel is a very good player have always rated him. Best position is fullback but an option at 12, 13 and wing. Useful utility player. Would have been a good Bok A team selection

A fine player to be sure, but his achilles heel was always defence. He cannot ever play outside centre at any serious level of the game. In fact, if we look at all of the players being punted as viable options at 13 to create depth after Am, each and every one is a runner that cannot defend. I'd say that Hendricks is a good candidate to start for the Boks, in spite of his defence, but we simply must shore up the line elsewhere. A 9 who can come into the line with physicality will ease the pressure on the wings in space out wide. Perhaps a Frans at 15 will stabilise the pendulum defence and offer stopping power plugging gaps. Back to the original point: A 13 must be able to defend, first and foremost. We have gone the route of runners in the past, and it has bitten us in the rear each and every time we have been beguiled by the idea. It just isn't practical.

Well Deus you are 100% incorrect when you say all our 13 candidates are poor defenders Defence is a huge strength of young Henco v Wyk As for anyone advocating the inclusion of old man Frans as our 15 needs their eyes tested Frans is now slow, over weight and lacks agility His last test for the Boks at 10 was an embarrassment Frans should never ever find himself anywhere near a Bok squad ever again He is long past it

Henco and Cornell could potentially both be included in the squad.

Well, we need to rectify our defence. Some of this pertains to personnel, but it's also structural. If we have the best-attacking wings, we need to accommodate them with a solid interior defence and a pendulum defence that can provide adequate cover. We need better defence at scrumhalf, and it permeates outwards. From breakdown defence, we need to go over basics from the interior. Our wings are being exposed quite severely on defence, and a weak defender at 13 will exacerbate the problem. Frans is not the man he once was, that much is true, but he is still smarter than most of our players and his positional work is excellent. At 15 he can still aid the cause, and given that Willie has been nothing short of abysmal, it's an option we should ignore so hastily. Am had some poor moments, but he is still our premier 13. Arguably our premier back outright. After him, there really isn't anyone of note at all who can fill the primary duties of the modern outside centre in the modern game. This much has been effectively carved in stone this season.

Bullshit Frans is utterly useless these days Advocating his inclusion is insulting on all levels especially to the likes of Willie, Fassi and Gelant

With Am injured Willemse at 12 and Dud at13 might be the best option.

Damian started off at 13, and in many respects that is where he is fundamentally more suited. However, his decision making was exposed in open space. This has not improved with age. The more linear visual tunnel at 12 helps to conceal his limitations. Kriel is actually the better and stronger centre and does actually read play better, so he is well ahead of Damian at both 12 and 13. I do not believe Willemse is a centre. He really hasn't had a standout game at centre but showed a bit of promise at 10. Perhaps Esterhuizen at 13 could be useful. He rushes the line accurately and could seal off the edge with enough effectiveness to discourage opponents from playing too wide too often for fear of territorial loss and amplifying the threat of turnovers.

Nice to see yall finally getting on the Henco hype train. Saf, he’s more than a good defender and attacker. His reading of the game is well beyond what most of the current Boks are capable of.

Yeah I like Henco - I was worried that he might be too small as he looks small and compact on screen. He is certainly bulky but they have him at 1.81m which is hardly short

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of him now and he really impresses me, so much so I would have started him at 13 against Ireland I liked Jessie Kriel in the days he started at 13 alongside DA but since losing his place to Am he has struggled to make an impact which is understandable given the circumstances. You can’t expect to shine when you never get to play and when you do it’s tit bits For that reason id start Henco as he is young, eager and fresh and given what we have seen to date there is no way he would let the Boks down. There is just something reassuring about this kid as there is Roos

Roos look bigger this year and more suited to test rugby. Last year he got limited opportunity, but he did not look like a power test back-row forward like say Steph DuToit or Vermuelen.

Anyway, it’s nice to see how much young talent is coming through. The moment we think we can’t replace guys like Eben, Thor, Am…we get guys of similar or better quality coming off of the production line.

This must be the 10th name of a member Augi has used .- but he is welcome back anyway.    Hie assessment of rugby and players have not changed at all and despite his new username he still specialize in spouting the same nonsense on site.    For instance from the world go as a profession al player for the Stormers De Allende play at center. - but in 2014  Meyer used him as no 12 twice.   After  De Villiers was injured against Wales test in 2014 he was replaced by De Allende in the Springbok side at 12 and when De Villers failed in the Samoa test in the 2015 WC De Allende replaced him in the starting line-up at 12.

Since then De Allende played at outside center under Meyer in one test in the 2019 WC and none since.   So De Allende started off art 13 is a myth.
