Sharks flanker Jean Deysel has been suspended for three weeks after his Super Rugby red card against the Crusaders on Saturday night.

Only 3 weeks????????????? A NZ player would have got 52weeks for such a deliberate act of EXTREME violence, TsK Tsk Tsk  just confirmed what we know all along about the corrupt nature of SARU influence in the SANZAR Judicary . He was just following the example of his neanderthal captain. Boys we really must teach you the proper rules of rugby - spots are still available Beanhead for beginners level. Bryce Lawrence is one of the lecturers.

They had no option - otherwise they would let a professional fouling thug get away with it.   .   That may teach the Crusaders and Chiefs not to be coached to commit professional fouls in the hope that they can get away with it.   Crooked rugby should like dirty rugby be eliminated from the game.

I'm guessing Dylan Hartley would have got life for that one  ha ha ha !!!

3 weeks is a surprise, I have to say but our Prop only got a week for punching Tom Youngs and getting a Red Card on Friday night in the Saints/Leics match. So it's obviously short ban season

Given that we fund the SuperXV and the 4 nations, our players should be forgiven for a few indiscretions.

Jordan Taufua apparently fronted and gave evidence in the case which helped Deysel. Taufua must have reiterated that Deysel was sincerely sorry and that he did blatantly hold him back.
I assume thats what Taufua's evidence was and good on him. Yes, it could have been worse but it wasn't and one thing is for sure..Taufua might think twice before doing that nonsense again!

Give Taufua 10 out of 10 if he did give evidence like boklogic claimed.

im surprised he only got three weeks, and he can count himself lucky.

the deliberate nature of diesel sniffers actions is what IMO should have given him more time.
the fact that he looked down at tafua and then stomped him makes him a disgusting thug IMO, and this ruling a very favourable one, i mean now he wont play a club game ontop of two spXV games???

with punishments like that, why even bother enforcing the no stamping on oppositions  head or face, lolz.

but the tafua testimony, deysels apparently clean sheet all played a part in the decision, so no point in crying about it ok hakwa san, after all, were not saffas,

the judicary in all hearings this year has been adding an extra week or two to most sentences this year as a deterrent for future offenses.
what message are they sending with no deterrent on the most heinous offense in spXV this year??? o_O
i hope all the blues players are wearing headgears this week, cos theyre going to need it,

 Sasu

I am by no means condoning Deysel's actions. It is un sportsmanship like and it does not belong in rugby at all.Saying that,Taufua's action are equal to Deysel. The difference is one is governed by a code of conduct and the other isn't.Nzl plays clever rugby.Give credit where its due.Nzl will exploit any area of the game to gain advantage if that area is not governed. There is no rule that says you can not hold a player by the ruck on his arm or jersey or for a few seconds by the leg...But there surely will be soon.

It is obvious that you wrote this thread to provoke posters by blatantly ignoring the real cause of the problem. That's fine...act like a three year old at the age of thirty. That's you're call...But its complete and utter ignorance to avoid the real issue and a bit distasteful.

Kbbs dodging the highly embaraasing issue here - the culpability of  taufauCompulsory reading fr all kiwis are the comments made by Kaplan. Bwhahahahaha.
The worst offenders are Kiwis says Kaplan. Deysel should be given a medal for highlighting this fact. Kbbs the cat is now out of the bird you will need to work out a new way to get an unfair advantage.
But how accurate was Beeno assessment. Read what Kaplan says about taking people out around rucks etc. Kiwis sides are trying to take people out of the defensive line.Their friends across the ditch are onto this good thing as well.
If saffa sides try it they will be blown up. And so the farce continues and will continue unless we all protest. SARU in particular must be onto these things in full force and immediately they shown their face.

watch McCaw getting taken out illegaly the ENTIRE game Beeno and noticed how controlled and what a gentleman he is towards his counterparts from the SA Rugby Fraternity. He is very patient and willing to give them a chance to learn from him how to conduct oneself on and off the field. I would have hoped that Deysel would have taken the time on the sideline to take notes from McCaw - goodness knows he had enough time about 79minutes

BwahahhaahhahahahaWhen a ref of international renown like Kaplan speaks out like this it is noted by one and all except the lunatic fringe. England you have been warned. I suggest you squeal blue murder if they try this on you. Given the bad plublicity they may lie low for a while or try the next trick?

...Bean Brain we all know you take everything Justin Marshall says as gospel and...

....former All Black Justin Marshall believes the punishment handed down to Jean Deysel is no deterrent.

The Sharks flanker will miss three weeks, or just two games, for stomping on Crusaders player Jordan Taufua's head.

Marshall says he believes for a deliberate stomp to the head, a 10-12 week ban would have been more in line with his thinking.

"There's never ever any consistency. There's always mitigating events. Good records, or who you get, whether it's a lawyer you get or whether it's a rugby man who understands and is slightly more compassionate for the situation. It's all over the shop."

Marshall says the injuries could have been worse than just stitching in the mouth and could have knocked out teeth or injured eyes.

...Bean Brain common knowledge that stomping on players is permissible in SA after Baboon Bismark went unpunished for a similar offence on Labushcagne in last years Currie Cup did he not...but that just set a dangerous precedent...now every dumbarse yarpy wants to stomp on someone and thinks he can get away with it...

All of you saffas are  justifying the violence:

"That may teach the Crusaders and Chiefs not to be coached to commit professional fouls"

"Taufua might think twice before doing that nonsense again!"

"Given Taufua's cheating deserved a slap........3 weeks is about right. Deysel will hopefully use his fists next time"

"Taufua's action are equal to Deysel."
for your information FA, one is just an offense deserving a penalty like being offside and what Deysel did was an Agression, if you cannot see the difference...

And what would have happened if the one who helded had been a sharks player and the one who stomped his face had been a saders, let's say McCaw?
You all would be saying that there must be no tolerance before this acts, that an exemplifying ban should be applied, etc., etc. I wouldn't be surprised if one of you asked even for the death penalty.

what would you have done, not so clevvermike, if  McCaw had stomped a sharks player's face and someone had written without any prove or anything similar (as you do) that this happens because the SA players are coached to comit proffesional fouls and therefore some stomps in their faces are good for rugby because that way the SA players are teached?

You all justify the violence and you do so just because who practises it, is one of yours. Couldn't be more repugnant, bounch of bias possessed!!!

 ABasquefan
I have yet to find any SA supporter who justifies the actions of Deysel.  Not one of them has done that - so your assumption is totally out of context.  Nobody support violence - but I think where you are wrong is that you do not recognize the need for cleaning up the game from unprofessional fouls.
Fact is the NZ teams practice it and when asked about it says that other NZ teams are worse.  If the referee took constructive action when Crotty started with it in the game on Saturday it is likely that it would have been reduced in later phases of the game.
That kind of foul often has unpleasant consequences in games and that I think is what most members of the site feel that it should be dealt with constructively by the referees.  Penalties are note nough - yellow cards should be used.
What is disturbing is that New Zealand coaches does not view unprofessional conduct of the nature involved as wrong and apparently encourage it.   If that is indeed so - it is time that the game management in NZ should be cleaned up.
i think from this weekend there will be much more attention paid to that component of the game.  So lets hope the unprofessional fouls will be eliminated from the game.

"I have yet to find any SA supporter who justifies the actions of Deysel.  Not one of them has done that".

I'll show you again and this are some samples of only this thread:

"That (the stomping) may teach the Crusaders and Chiefs not to be coached to commit professional fouls".
This one is from you. When you say that the violence, the stomping in this case, has some desirable outcomes (teach the saders and chiefs) you are justifying it.

"Taufua might think twice before doing that nonsense again!". Boklogic

"Given Taufua's cheating deserved a slap........3 weeks is about right. Deysel will hopefully use his fists next time". Saffex

"Taufua's action are equal to Deysel." FA

You all justified the violence. Don't deny it, is all written up there

Did he say anything about SA thuggery lately? Let's keep things in proportion - punishment to fit the crime, etc.

""That (the stomping) may teach the Crusaders and Chiefs not to be coached to commit professional fouls".
I quote your statement above.  What you have added in brackets is crazy.  The sentence I wrote and you quoted relates to yellow carding of players committing Professional fouls - not as you now try to make out fraudulently by adding the words in brackets.   That is unethical and I do not accept that - any apology is called for.

 mike,
I didn't try to make out faudulently anything. It's just what I understood. "That" can mean everything and inthis context and having read others of your posts, I understood that you wanted to mean the stomping.

I read it again and if I'm not wrong (which could easily be the case cos' it's not very clear and I'm not a native english) you are refering to leaving the stomping without the appropiate punishment which is almost the same. What I understand is:

"They had no option (than leaving the stomping without the appropiate punishment) - otherwise they would let a professional fouling thug (Taufua) get away with it.   .   That may teach the Crusaders and Chiefs not to be coached to commit professional fouls in the hope that they can get away with it"

The bracketts are mine.
Almost the same.

JW-to what crime are you referring to exactly? As far as I recall our players are almost always in the spot light,"even when all legal boundaries are covered AKA B Duplessis vs D Carter."So please explain what you mean by crime should fit the punishment.I also recall that on several of your local derbys the "crime" of holding on to players at the rucks/mauls etc...were put under the spot light by your own commentary team in Canes vs Saders match. What Deysel did was wrong. You can not take the law in to your own hands but at the same time to defend Tuafua's actions are absurd. It brings the whole game/rugby union to a level undesired. Its legal cheating? Is that how a world champion nation conducts itself these days? What message does that send to the under tens of today...that is the future of Zanzar rugby. In all fairness,Tuafua should have been suspended as well. That would have sent a message to all players wanting to infringe the rules.

Abasquefan, you're wasting your time arguing with this lot! They all claim to be not justifying Thug Deysel's stomp but then say that it was under severe provocation. Thuggery is thuggery and no-one should be trying to make excuses for the thug.Obviously a jack-up orchestrated by the SARU for him to only get 3 weeks and one of those is a club game!!!I can't believe Sharkbok basically saying it was ok as they are only plastic sprigs!Reconfirms the SA psyche of cheap shots and dirty play is foremost in their minds. If they concentrated just on rugby they might have a remote chance of beating the mighty ABs.

Cheating is the only way they'll win anything.

They first start off by collecting all the talented Islanders and drawing them into their squad, claiming they're legit New Zealanders.

Then they make sure the IRB officials are taken care of to ensure decisions go their way.

A little something under the counter brings the refs in on the conspiracy, and to seal it off nicely they coach cheating techniques to all that don the Black jersey.

Then when all's said and done, they pat themselves on the back and celebrate their achievements.

What cracks me up is when fools like Just Win speak of winning graciously and how we and the rest of the world should take lessons in this from the men in black.
