Some nice highlights from Wasps (C side to be fair) V Coventry who were promoted last season and are now in the Championship.

Just a pre-season friendly between neighbours for now.

Wasps senior side played Ulster the night before.

A depleted Yorkshire/Leeds Carnegie away at The Butts in some rough conditions.

Two weeks back against London Scottish.
Next up are The Canucks on Monday night as part of Canada's preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers.
8 quid a ticket and U16's go free. Might stroll down after work with the wee man for a Guinness or 3.

Ja, nice little city, 5 minutes in any direction and you're into the country side.

It wasn't too long ago that I was playing one level below Cov, who were a power house in English rugby in the 70s and 80s so I've heard.

They've been promoted twice since then while the club I play for has been relegated once.

Their Captain, Phil Boulton recently began coaching the newly recreated Academy side which is great for the city as now there are two academies (Wasps and Cov) as well as Worcester a lil ways away.

Nice thread Xavi. I don't tend to comment of these threads, but I do watch the links. It's nice to get some rugby content from around the world.

A good hiding given to a struggling Leeds Carnegie, played in atrocious conditions ( Storm Dennis ).

Most of the lower league fixtures were cancelled.

I was coaching on that pitch on Friday night and man was it great to leave the pitch with boots cleaner than when we went on.

One of my sons best mates is the tighthead for Coventry, he is SA born, parents live not too far from me. Luc is a good ball playing prop. Their 10 Dan Lewis is from my sons school, he was in the same year group as current England player Lewis Ludlum

The team I coach use their facilities for extra training on a Friday night, captains run, Line outs and backs moves really.
My son and about 8 other lads from the team have been selected for Cov schools so they train there on a Wednesday before club training.
Their trial game for Warwickshire was supposed to take place 2 weeks ago however storm Ciara forced the game forward to this weekend coming. With half term here now, my son's the only hooker in the squad. The other two kids are away.

I haven't seen much of Luc, unless the game is televised I don't get a chance to see it. I'm still involved with playing myself and haven't had a chance to go down on match day.
We played Northampton old Scouts a few weeks back and beat them but Old Northamptonions are on another level when it comes to junior rugby. Their entire backline were bigger than our forwards and quick!! Really good setup there.

Small world, when I coached we used to travel to play against Old Northamptonians and you are correct they are bloody good. We used to come up against Rotumi Segum who was virtually the size he is today playing on the wing for Saracens. Old Albanians are another good side in that area. We had to travel for fixtures as our side was too good to play against the local sides. We had a few fixtures in London. The kids were rough and tough at some of the clubs - Battersea Ironside were a bunch of thugs Bishop Storford closer to home were a damn good side as well Those were the days - very fond memories

Nice postings Xavi.

You add a personal involvement in the game and it's indeed a refreshing stance from the humdrum postings here and it's interesting that Saffex and yourself share links in common

Thanks for the effort.
