Despite going into their World Cup opener against New Zealand as overwhelming underdogs, Argentina skipper Agustin Creevy believes his side can beat the world champions.
Los Pumas have not beaten the All Blacks in 30 years and 21 matches and although Creevy acknowledges that the odds are stacked against his team, he feels it's not impossible for his side to claim an unlikely victory.
"New Zealand are favourites to win the title," he said.
"They are the best in the world. We know how good they are, but we are going out to play the perfect match and win."
Argentina's head coach Daniel Hourcade is more cautious and realistic and admitted that his goal is for his side to secure second place in Pool C, which also includes Tonga, Georgia and Namibia.
"Even when we have played well against the All Blacks we did not even get close," he said.
"On paper we are not favourites, but we have come here with the idea of having a great World Cup."
Hourcade said wins over Australia and South Africa in the Rugby Championship in recent years showed they were on the right track.
"We are developing and I continue to hope we keep making history."
