The Crusaders are open to discussing a potential name change following the mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch that killed 50 people.

The Canterbury-based club adopted their name 23 years ago when rugby went professional, but questions have been raised over its associations with the medieval religious wars between Christians and Muslims since the attacks.

The franchise, which has won a record nine Super Rugby titles, issued a statement on Saturday defending the name but chief executive Colin Mansbridge said on Sunday they were open to initiating discussions about a change, in time.

“The first thing for us is things are still fairly raw,” Mansbridge told TVNZ on Sunday.

“We’re in a state of shock. We’ll acknowledge the feedback we’ve had. It is appropriate.

“In the context of what’s happened it is pretty hard to sort of elevate this conversation at the moment.

“We’ve heard it... and we do want to have a conversation about it.”

The Crusaders’ clash with the Highlanders in Dunedin on Saturday was cancelled after discussions between the teams and police.

The third cricket Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh, that was due to start in Christchurch on Saturday, was cancelled after the tourists narrowly avoided being caught up in the shooting.

New Zealand’s top professional football team, the Wellington Phoenix, did play their A-League match with the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.

The side commemorated one of those killed, Kuwait-born Atta Elayyan, the goalkeeper for the New Zealand futsal team.

“My heart goes out to the futsal community,” said New Zealand Football chief executive Andrew Pragnell.

“They are a very tight-knit group and this news of Atta’s death will be devastating for all involved in the game. We feel their pain and their grief.”

All Blacks captain Kieran Read had earlier urged his fellow New Zealanders to reject bigotry and support the country’s Muslim community after the shooting.

“That this hate filled atrocity has happened in our back yard is beyond words,” Read, who was caught up in the city centre lockdown at his daughters’ school on Friday as police searched for the gunman, wrote on his Instagram account.

“Our strength lies in our diversity and while acts such as this are orchestrated in an attempt to divide us, love and unity will always prevail.”

It's this kind of pandering that is making Westerners such easy pickings.

I was wondering when the "Crusaders " name would become an issue. Strange that it took such an extreme event to start off such a discussion.  When will the name of the city be too offensive as well?

So right Organhuffer. This comment reveals how thoroughly brainwashed the nz public is by Globalist brain washing: “Our strength lies in our diversity and while acts such as this are orchestrated in an attempt to divide us, love and unity will always prevail.” How much diversity is allowed in islamic counties"? These mongs had better starting thinking a bit more.

Open borders and multiculturalism are key policies of the globalists as they seek to destroy nation states. The Europeans are now rebelling against the destruction of their countries.

nz of course is a back water and it will take time for the oaks there to wake up.

Draad its about to become Mohammedmosque in time. Wonder how Cloudy will look in her burka.

She still trying to say we agree with the killings. No we don't but we are deeply aware of the threat islam represent . How dumb do you get. Remarkable really. Shows the scary power of brain washing. Poor Cloudy is a slave to Globalist propaganda. Probably walking around right now in her hijab.

What has happened in Europe and America and indeed around the world in respect of Jihad is not propaganda and neither are the clear teaching of the Quoran that advocate Jihad. This is just like the fools in Hitlers day refusing to take Mein Kampf seriously.

By the way its come out now the loon doing the shooting hates Trump.

Diversity is codeword for ethnic cleansing. When will we see Islam (which means "submission") be held into account for its mandate to entirely eradicate all of humanity who refuses to fall under its submission? Remember, Muhammad taught that we are all born Muslim, thus any who are not thereafter are apostates. Apostasy is punishable by death as they are not classified under Qu'ran as innocent. It's their mission to impose this submission. A Mosque isn't merely a place of worship either, it's the governing body of a Muslim community by which an entirely separate legal system supersedes any local jurisdiction. It's also where jihad is orchestrated, and where Saudi Arabia has spent millions (most likely billions over the years) all over the world to prepare these Islamic centres for their holy war.

This is in fact a topic raised previously by Cloudy and she agreed with me about my contribution:-

"That would be absolutely wrong - one should not try and match political correctness sayings - especially based on what radical Muslims wanted done -  in a totally non-religious environment, .  That has nothing to do with  rugby at all and match the kind of thing happening when politicians interfere with sport such as the case is in SA - here Whites are discriminated against and murdered in their homes after torture and raped of especially women."

Extremists are such romantics. Always the glorious dream of civil war, that noble struggle where they quickly shoot the shit out of whoever opposes them and then go home to their families to live peacefully in the newly created utopia.

Really Beeno....you don't agree with the Muslim killings but cheered when 185 Canterburians died in an earthquake? Got it.”

Even though I was one of those who criticised Beeno over his remark, and I will do it again, and even though I was part of the decision to have him suspended at the time, I have to call you out on this one. That is bullshit. It is absolutely not what happened.
He never cheered about it. The short version is that he made a remark which we deemed to have been in bad taste, at the time. He was asked to retract it and he disagreed with our viewpoint about the remark and refused to retract it. He was suspended for that, for refusing to retract his remark.
I am not posting this to regurgitate the whole issue and restart the argument. I am doing so to put the record straight and try to stop this notion that Beeno was literally jumping up and down in joy over a tragic event.

They have both been singing from the same hymm book, Mein Kampf.

As a side note beenshit wants to remind everyone that the next meeting is on Tuesday night at 7:30pm, dont forget your white sheets and anyone late for the cross burning will be fined 50 SA pesos

In other news blacks are now welcome as long as they hate Muslims as they have found someone else to hate even more.

It still goes without saying no women are allowed along to these gatherings as they hate it when the room of 500 twats has a total IQ that exceeds 42 because when this happens they lose the ability to think like sheep

Cloudy, Beeno never cheered people lost in the earthquake or made light of the loss of life. ..he made a silly reference about the Allblacks quaking in their boots shortly after the earthquake. It was insensitive and completely un-tactful, but also not what he is being accused of.

I se e some people having to make some hard choices in the not too distant future.

I would prefer to just terminate all religion in its entirety. Then a rugby team could name itself whatever it wanted, and it would just be seen as tongue and cheek of the primitive past.
Abrahamic religions are cut from the same cloth, but in the 21st century, there is no doubt that as a statistical average Muslim is worse. They commit more violent crimes, and have more sympathisers within their culture.
Just like the Jews want God to come to earth to make them kings of the world, or Christians that claim only their God is true- the Muslims want to make it a one world religion. The Jews and Christians in the 21st century have toned things down, but the Muslims still appear to be in the middle ages (along with Beeno). If Beeno had been born a Muslim, he would have been a Jihad.

Sorry maybe he clapped like a deaf person and I missed it.” No, you haven’t missed it. You could not have because it did not even happen on this forum. It happened even before Beeno was a member of this forum. My guess is that probably the only other persons on this forum, who were actually witness to the whole saga, are Draad, Moz, Denny and Blobbok. Any of them are free to correct me where I am wrong. I am sure that I’m fairly accurate in my description of what happened. I was, after all, part of the moderating team that decided to suspend him. Anybody outside of the names I listed above are talking on hearsay and are probably reacting on all of the different tails that the story has grown over the years. The truth behind it is way less dramatic than what most, dare I say, Kiwis on here, would like it to be.

I'm not talking about Muslims I'm talking about people. Or if I found it hilarious to see all your Zulu dances before a game? I may be a lot of things but disrespectful I'm not.” I’d be just as appalled by it as I am about this attack. I haven’t condoned this attack anywhere ever. What I have spoken out about, was the fact that I agreed with Plum’s take on it and I have made mention about the fact that all the governments of “western countries” have condemned the attack and have offered their condolences and support to NZ and the victims. Unlike the Muslim countries and communities in all of the attacks by Muslims when they either remained shtum or rejoiced over and praised the attackers. FFS, Sadiq Kahn even blames the west for the attacks by Muslims!!! As for the Zulu dances. It may surprise you but I dislike it as much as I dislike the haka. It is just another bullshit SARU PC exercise. The Zulus are neither the representative of SA nor of SA rugby. They have not had any significant role in the history of the game. If there is any of the “black” nations in SA who should play a role in such a display (the Zulu dances), it should be the Xhosas. They were traditionally the biggest group of black rugby players and supporters in the rugby history of SA.

I am not a radical - but rather interested in history,   In fact I dislike radicalism on all things.   However, I am also a realist.   Will there amongst the radicals and their do-good friends a new campaign to change the game of Christchurch because it is a "Christian abomination".

Even though it may not be supported by the local Muslims - they have no choice when the Muslim leadership  decide on a jihad.   They have to obey or die.   So will the new name for Christchurch be Medina????

The way this works is all the Moslems are in the cities....they become the majority in a narrow geography. Then they try to make cultural changes. 'Christchurch' and 'Crusaders' are now up for debate....and that debate wont just go away. If it fails this time, they will try again....don't give away your heritage.

Westerners don't have the faintest idea what they are dealing with. Their understanding of the Middle East and its history is appalling, all the more frustrating given they are so keen to poke their noses into their affairs.

Islam has itself to blame for this atrocity. How can one be a moderate Muslim? Can you be a moderate Ku Klux Klans man? How can you be part of a mandate to exterminate the entire planet and feel aggrieved when you become a target? Then to start demanding concessions from the country you dwell in? Go to any Islamic country, make any kind of request for them to make concessions for you and see what happens. I collected data throughout 2017, many thousands of people were murdered by Mulims around the world, nobody could speak out about it. A couple of mosques are attacked in New Zealand and now you must suppress your culture to make them happy. It's sickening. I have no respect for people who go along with this.

As a neutral party looking on with sympathy to all involved - I can't help but see the irony (or planning?) that this 'revenge attack' on muslims occurred in "Christchurch" with a Rugby team named "The Crusaders" who have been largely dominate over the years...

Just one observation.     So three days after the hideous Christchurch attack we have the equally hideous attack on a bus in  Utrecht in the Netherlands by a certain Gokmen  Tanis from Turkey - killing 3 people.    The initial reports indicated four people was involved, but only one arrest was made,

Heavens help the Dutch Government - they already has a serious political problem - and here an attack took place by a Muslim on innocent people,   But it is not a terrorist attack, or so the Dutch Government will be forced to claim coming  two months before the EU Parliament elections and the Dutch politically correct Government parties facing a wipe out if it is admitted as a terrorist attack,

The world is going crazy as was stated above.

Redsman, you need to cut Cheika loose, like an unruly brumby turned loose to its natural abode.

@Herr Mike: All of this stirring is not with a guiding hand. The name of the game is a global conflict. A world war. The plan is for Israel and the Arab world to mutually destroy each other, dragging the entire world into the conflict. Out of the ashes will be their grorious nu empire: their "New World Order". As they say, it'll be the thousand points of light of the New Golden Age - in reality 7 flickers of scheiß. The globalists are awaiting their Maitreya, who is the Mahdi of Islam, the Vishnu of Hinduism, the Sananda of Theosophy (blonde hair, blue eyed false Yeshua), the Lucifer of Luciferians (real Biblical name Heylel ) et al. You get the picture.

Did you ever hear of the new monetary system in India? It's a trial run for all of humanity. For their cashless society. Very disturbing.

Yes indeed Organhuffer the technology for having a cashless society is now all in place as is the technology to implement the Mark of the Beast.

When you take the reestablishment of Israel, the Globalist attempts to move towards a one world government, the rise of the whore church, the political alignment of nations against Israel all together then one realizes we are far down the prophetic road, seven year period of  tribulation etc. That said it could be soon or some decades away but the biblical signs of the times are there there in clear view.

Ou sharkbokkie is asking around what is this Bible being spoken about. Whatever it teaches I don't agree.

I see a bitterness in the attacks. I wonder what the nature of that bitterness is. When dealing with atheists, you first have to teach them about their beliefs and then what Christianity is. They can't quite separate cultural/biblical Christianity or paganism from one another. This affects their understanding of thousands of years of history spanning the entire globe.

It becomes easier when they take up the position of morality; a very common tactic. Then one must remind them that pure atheism cannot manifest without the total abolition of any moral code. If there is no creator, there is no reason for our existence. There is no meaning of life. There is also no value to it, and no reason to concern ourselves with any kind of consequence outside of our material existence. Who is to say what is right or wrong? Morality becomes a social construct of the weak, impeding the strong from full asserting their strength. A mental shackle. Murder, theft, rape et al are just the byproducts of our struggle for survival to carry on our genetic heritage. This brings us back to The Book of the Law:

"Do what thou wilt, and let that be the whole of the law."

Right back to Devil worship; a relative perspective of reality and a hearkening back to Genesis:

"For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

The deification of mankind.

Needless to say, total atheism is the most dangerous of all belief systems. Albert Pike, the much revered Grand Master Mason, stated that a devastating social cataclysm would ensue, and the atheists would be unleashed. This to make a spectacle of absolute atheism. Only then would the pure doctrine of Lucifer be unveiled. It's remarkable how it has al played out.
