Crusaders team to play the Waratahs in the Investec Super Rugby Final

Details Wednesday 30th July 2014

Crusaders Head Coach Todd Blackadder has named an unchanged side to take on the Waratahs on Saturday night.

The Crusaders and Waratahs will meet for the first time this season in this final clash of the 2014 Investec Super Rugby competition.  Blackadder said the fact that the two teams haven’t played each other yet this season just adds to the excitement of the occasion.

“There Is an unknown element given that we haven't played the Waratahs so far this year, but that goes for both teams.  We are just focussed on being as prepared as we can be to put in the best performance we're capable of,” Blackadder said.

“We know we have the game of our lives ahead of us but are not daunted by the challenge, we are looking forward to it.  We’ve got a group of men who want this badly and who have the talent to do it.”

The final will be played at ANZ Stadium in Sydney’s Olympic Park and kick-off is at 9:40pm NZ time on Saturday night.

This morning Fox showed a replay of the 2004 super 12 finals, Saders v Brumbies, Corey Flynn and Dan Carter were in the same positions as they will be on Saturday and Richie had a 7 on his back. Hope the result will be similar for the Crusaders.

Well that result was Crusaders loosing haha, so no lets not hope for that results. Personally Tahs have been great this year, but neither have faced each other this year, so that could cause problems for both teams. I think it well be down to control and direction. Saders having Eliss, Carter, Slade, Dagg all Technicle Virtsous. If Saders get parity at the breakdown, I think Saders well be too classy and experienced.

I agree that it will come down to control. If the Crusaders tie down the Tahs like the Brumbies did they will have the team to take advantage and the result may be different from 04. Would be great to see that type of scoreline though. both in size and direction.
