Anyone brave enough to back SA to take out the Cup of Nations? Not sure who are the favourites Zambia Ghana or the Ivory Coast perhaps - just wondering if soccer is your summer sport or is it a winter sport in SA??

Brycy

SA soccer is a joke and it is not our summer sport - that is cricket.   However, the Cup of Nations is held and the countries covered are all over Africa - so a suitable date to meet all requirements had to be found and that date was determined as being middle January to early February.

SA will not feature in the Cup competition - they will be out afer the round-robin games.  They played extremely badly yesterday and I do not hope for much more.

Okay we'll all put in 5 bucks and back a winner...if you say SA is useless then maybe i should back them . THe reason being you said how pathetic SA were last year as well after only one game and yet they went on to win the world junior rugby comp .

Too quick to write off your elite sports people perhaps thats not so clever...mike. Regardless I'm thinking Ivory Coast as they have the stars like Drogba don't they?

Brycy, big names like Drogba and them dont usually play. They get 10 times the money playing for their clubs like Chelsea and the likes so they only interested in their countries at a world cup.

Your money will not be safe on SA. They are muppets when it comes to soccer. Too much greed in that sport!

Hey Guys, I think South African Soccer is at its lowest @ da moment,  not much is happening in terms of league competiveness.  The quality of play, NOT players is seriously desperate. The team has been internationally tested and found wanting.  I do believe that there are a few good players who could make the fans dance when chasing the roundy thing, but they really need proper coaching.    Indeed, the last time I watched Bafana Bafana performing was during the World Cup.

Clive Barker was the man for the Job and when he left, things went down-hill for the national term.  Well, SA is a rainbow nation and that should be evident in thier national team selection like all other SA sports, but its really not the case at the moment; and that I think is a big mistake as far as football industry is concerned.

I watched the first ever African Cup of Nations, I think it was around 1996. South Africa either won or made the final, I cant remember. Since then it seems the team gets worse each year. I am not sure if it the players, the management, organisation or just everything. It is probably the latter given the pooor perofrmance

Agreed, totally, It's also the most I ahve seen players run after a bloody ball. It seems our football players have nerver learn't the skill of minimum energy usage and letting the ball do the work....We won't get far, and if we do get anywhere it will be pure damn luck.
