Pete signed up prior to the relegation match and would have signed up regardless as its a great opportunity for him in that he will now be involved in first class rugby. His contract with Griquas includes a performance clause after the 2nd year as he maintains they are stuck with the same squad next season, with only R1.5m to spend.
