I notice you never thanked Brycy or me for helping you recover lapsed strings, could it be you can't even follow the bouncing ball. As for your comments on de Kock, they are silly. He was totally at sea, even the hyper supportive commentary team remarked on how out of touch he was. And I never said a word about his innings against India...look it up if you have the minimal intelligence to follow the instructions given to you. If you don't you are either stupid or wrong.

Remember 2 is always more than 1.
Stats mean nothing when you don't deliver.
De Kock still requires a lot of first class cricket experience before he will be a top test player,,,,hopefully he will be granted that exposure and will mature accordingly.
Also there are very few cricketers that are born with the batting skills that both Barry and Graham were gifted with.

Graeme Smith's debut test (batting at no 3), more or less the same age:
First innings: 3 off 9 balls, c Ponting, b McGrath.
Second innings: 168 off 147 balls, c Gillchrist, b Warne.
The bowling attack that he faced:
G D McGrath
J N Gillespie
B Lee
S K Warne
M E Waugh
Is De Kock ready, right now, to emulate that? I don't think so.

Nope de Kock is the real deal and his place is at 7 in the test side where he will get better and better.......nerves got the better of him in his first innings and he looked far better in his second innings with a handy 34..........Amla averaged 20 in his first 20 innings's.........de Kock must and will stay in the test side........his time is now.
He handled the second best attack in the world with enough surety to build on that debut with confidence.

Wow. Can you believe it. I am in agreement with Saffex. Exactly what I was trying to illustrate. Opening the batting is not his place yet. He is exactly where, in the batting line-up, he should be for the time being. Not even at three were Smith started.

Smith is in crap form at the moment, but to suggest he be dropped as DomMike has eluded to is just ignorance of the highest order. Just like Amla and JP have come through their dips, Smith will do the same.......class is class and you stick with class......the only time we will not see Smith in the test side is when he retires and rightly so........not only is he one of the best bats in the game, he also happens to be a fantastic captain.
As for opening with deKock, that would be plain and utter stupidity........no, he needs to find his test feet at 6 or 7
Great to see Elgar, Amla and JP get good runs.........that will hopefully see an investment in Elgar ahead of Alviro andthe retention of JP in the side.
Pity about Parnell getting injured, he adds so much more than average McLaren. Good to see de Kock get a 30 odd, he will feel good about that little knock.
Great fightback by the boys, a sign of a class side that looked far better balanced than the first test side that had a number of passengers in it. What is the story with de Lange, is he injured as he would be the obvious replacement for Parnell in the last test?

How raw is the raw pace of de Lange? Is this one of those kids who bowls flat out at 145 ks and hits his line once every three overs?

Mike you are speaking shit again about de Lange.......but to answer your question Moz........de Lange bowls at 150kph consistently........but sadly injury has played its part far too often with this guy........hit the test scene with a bang and then got injured

Mike I dont give a shit that de Kock made more runs than Smith. Smith is in shit form, but form is temporary, class permanent.
de Kock will be ready to open the batting by the time Smith retires in two years or so.......for now we need him learning his test trade in the middle order

Yes, he should take over the gloves from AB and AB needs to move up to 4

De Kock is an opener and is more comfortable against th enew ball. Let him open with Elgar. Elgar has to stay. he actually is quite a useful spinner as well and has guts.
Smith is an attacking bat and will do well at five or 6 which is where he must move to.
De Lange is the man we need but how is his form? Is he really fit etc.
Abbot is a containing bowler which has its uses. Pity parnell was injured he was looking really good. Pa ce was right up there and good movement both ways.
25 Feb 2014, 11:17#29
@Mike. "At no 7 Duminy has a dual role - he is also the spinning all-rounder."
Maybe you first need to understand the term "all-rounder". Duminy does not fit the description of an all-rounder and is at best a batsman/part time spin bowler.
25 Feb 2014, 12:26#31
It is not just me choosing to say so Kontklont, an all-rounder is a cricket player who can be selected purely as either a bowler or a batsman. Duminy isn't even firmly in the team as a batsman at the moment, despite his century in the last test. He blows hot and cold. He plays one brilliant innings and scores a century and them it takes him years to follow it up with another.
He started off his test career with a century in the second innings of his first test. It took him just more than three years to get his second one. During that time he only scored two 50s. It took him another two years to score his third century with, once again, only two fifties in-between. Compare that to Faf du Plessis who has had three centuries in just more than two years. I would not even think of bringing AB into the equation. The reason why I am talking about JP, Faf and AB in the same discussion? They were team mates in under-age cricket. In fact, as far as I know, Faf used to be the captain. That is as far as the batting goes. There is no way that you can include him purely as a bowler.

Yeah Faf staying is fine, but no way in hell should he be our 4, he should bat 5........however, I reckon David Miller is a better bat and I'd like to see him given an opportunity at test level
25 Feb 2014, 15:45#33
Would you drop Faf for Miller? Faf has proven that he can attack the bowling and he can hold an innings together if and when necessary. You do not drop someone who has proven himself and is doing the job. I have no problem in swapping Faf and AB around, but I would not drop Faf. Faf's first class stats is also better than that of Miller. Faf averages 40.05 with a HS of 176 for first class matches alone, while Miller averages 33.63 with a HS of 149 in first class matches. Faf has a more than decent set of test figures. At 51.88, his averages for test cricket is even better than his first class figures.

Moz, de Kock only opens his stance to spinners..........he is orthodox against seamers.
Vlag, Faf's average is coming down test by test.....the only reason it is so high is because of his great start to test cricket.
Would I drop Faf for Miller......yes, because he is a better bat and I'd bat him at 7, with de Kock at 6, JP at 5, AB at 4.......etc
26 Feb 2014, 11:26#37
For once, I have to agree with ou Maaikie. Duminy should not be in the test side and Saff might want Miller in ahead of Faf but it is not going to happen for obvious reasons. The number 7 spot will probably be taken up QdK for the time being.
