Former Australia coach Robbie Deans believes the Wallabies have an excellent chance of winning next year's Rugby World Cup.
Deans, currently coaching in Japan with the Panasonic Wild Knights, left his position last year following the series defeat to the British and Irish Lions.
Assessing new coach Ewen McKenzie's squad, Deans stated that Australia certainly had a chance of success in England next year.
"Absolutely it can be done. We showed that anything's possible," Deans told AAP.
"Ewen's got a group now that's a lot more experienced. There's a lot more depth so they shouldn't be as vulnerable to isolated events like injury and form.
"It can clearly be done and a World Cup context creates that possibility as well."
Deans also reflected on where it all went wrong for the Wallabies under his tenure at the last World Cup in New Zealand.
"Ultimately, whoever won the World Cup had to beat the All Blacks and we didn't. We weren't good enough," added Deans. (Boks were best side at last RWC)
"That was the youngest playing group at the World Cup at that time. Next year you can have a group that's seasoned and you can have seasoned players in areas that are key, like front row.
"I think they've got a great opportunity."
