vathomfluffy First of all welcome to the Board. Your first comments are really looking for trouble - but that show you aere a thinking person - good for you. Now as to the issue of the loosies that is supposed to serve together with the scrummie to get the ball to the backline. Sad to say - but yesterday there was only one loosie that showed his capacity in the relevant regard. Despite all the hullabaloo to the contrary - * Spies was atrociously poor; * Kolisi did nothing in the relevant regard when he came on; and * Alberts showed no interest at all in that component of the game. I am an Arno Botha fan and his loss was massive. We need under present circumstances two loosies who can take over all aspects of loosie play - also this component. We do not need a rather slow mobility quasi- lock like Alberts - and definitely a better 8. before we can hopefully get on more even par with the Aussies and the All Blacks. Most members would do a cadenza about my comments - but that does not worry me in the least.

I think the euphoria is certainly misplaced. We were poor against Italy, horrible against Scotland and better yesterday against Samoa. But these kind of scores are not unusual for non RWC Samoan contests, and yesterday they killed their own momentum with penalties. - So where do we stand. Against the inept Samoan outside backs, who seemingly have no tackling technique, we looked like world beaters. Willie has added a dimension and JJ's pace is a new weapon. But we don't know how this works against a pressure defence. - We do know from Italy and Scotland that our scrum, particularly Jannie, is very vulnerable. And we lack an 8th man. I thought Flip was awful yesterday and a penalty machine as well....so to me 5 lock is not settled. - My own guess is this will be a hard RC....welcome Fluffy.
