DE VILLIERS GETS GREEN LIGHT 21 JUN
Springbok captain Jean de Villiers has been cleared to play against Samoa after coming through Friday's captain's run in Pretoria.
In his press conference earlier, De Villiers said that he was not 100% after picking up a sternum injury in last Saturday's Testagainst Scotland in Nelspruit, and that he would have to pass a further fitness test to feature in the game against Samoa.
On Friday night, the Bok management confirmed that De Villiers came through the afternoon's training session at Loftus Versfeld, and will start at No 12 as planned.
Because of this injury he had been listed all week as doubtful for the 'final' of the quadrangular series against Samoa. It wasn't until Friday afternoon that he trained for the first time since the match.
De Villiers has played almost every minute of the Stormers' 13 matches in Super Rugby, and every minute of the past two Tests for the Springboks.
