Nice guy, Dick, ex Queens College...was a damn good rugby centre of Saffex style...very solid . Played for Springboks, Sharks and Stormers and was Springbok assistant coach. Was very popular with his Sharks mates.

Any how both he and Grant took on the challenge to coach the Russian National Team.

He said this :

While World Rugby has condemned Russian rugby to isolation, it has pledged renewed support from the Ukraine Rugby Federation.

In a jaw-dropping irony, the Ukraine and Russian rugby teams were sharing a training facility in Turkey when the war broke out and Muir, speaking from Antalya in Turkey, said the players got on just fine.

A lot of people don’t understand what this war is about,” he stressed. “It is a political thing, it is not about ordinary people. There are families split across both countries,” the former Springbok centre said. “At our training facility in Turkey, we had Turkish, Ukrainian and Russian teams and there was no animosity between the countries — everybody got on. We shared a dining hall with the Ukraine players and it was just a hall full of rugby players enjoying themselves.”

Dick looks like he is looking after his paycheque.

Rugby is a small part of life, especially for those that live in a war zone like Ukraine. Russia must be banned from the civil world, and that includes sports sanctions.
Many Russians support the war, so they must pay the price. It is their responsibility to ensure that they don't get taken over by an authoritarian dictator once again (e.g. Stalin).

Ban those fat loud and stupid yanks. they started all of this and they must be punished. funny how only certain nations get banned. where is south africas ban for its continued racism in sports? huh? so much for inclusivity and equality. only where its politically beneficial to the evil empire. hypocritical wankers.

Fully agree in a way...the hypocrisy stinks to high heaven. Send Forty Billion into the arms of Neo Nazi terrorists to get laundered all over the world into extreme fascists pockets worldwide like Azov right wing extremist, Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan and myriads of others and watch soon Pakistan whilst children get obliterated and then demented Coffin Dodger screams about gun control in USA.

Sportsmen and women have nothing to do with with these greedy exploiters and manipulators.

Wimbledon tennis has now been contaminated by these filthy hypocritical bastards sticking their obscene noses into beautiful sporting events that bring positive happiness and goodwill to people.

Crunch time is coming to USA and Europe of that you can be very sure. The first will be last and last will be first is an adage that over time always becomes reality.

The ruble is rising and the dollar is tanking and in S&P 500, Dow Jones, Cac-40, Dax etc the writing is appearing on the wall.

Two of the forums cowards you have never been in conflicts and seen men with a" third eye" or body ripped to pieces from an AK 47. Only rifle they have these cowards have ever held, is the keyboard...typical.

Like the west of the myriads of cowards in public and politics. Have no genuine feelings for their fellow man. War is very tough and even more terrible.Third World war in the balance...hopefully wrong but not too sure. Then all rugby, sport , opinions and talk will have no significance.

I've recently gotten married to a Russian, I dated a few Ukranian girls previously and both of them are amazing.  I have made many Russian friends through my wife and even got to visit the motherland last year. What people don't understand is that they run an apartheid style police and media censorship. They clamp down any negative government criticism.  Remember those girls from Pussy Riot, well it is a lot worse.

Even you walk near a protest they'll just grab you and throw you in prison. Even children have been grabbed randomly. Once you're in the Judicial system it is very hard to get out or get proper representation.

There are some Russian people that still fall for the propaganda and older people are more susceptible to these lies.

My wife and I also have a couple of Ukrainian friends whom we meet with regularly as both of them are Russian speaking. I even picked up a few words along the way. Meeting with Russian are alway friendly, lots of food and plenty of tea. Not the Vodka that we were made to believe but we do enjoy our drinks together but not to the extend that most people believe.

My wife also spends countless hours helping Ukranian refugees meet host families here in the UK and already made a massive donation to Ukranians.

Unfortunately, Russia still has a lot of the soviet era governance and has never been a true democracy. Also, Russian people on the outside appears to agree and that is a for a reason but they never believe what they are saying as truth.

I love how direct the Russians are and you know where you  stand, they don't hold grudges or beat around the bush.  Probably why I think South Africans get on  so well with them. I  was married to an english woman for 10 years and it was hell.

So Dick is not looking after his pay cheque, just really enjoy the company of the people

Even if people don't care about what is happening to the Ukrainians as a nation (not saying many people don't), this war is about to push the world into a global recession which impacts everyone negatively around the world.

Well, my wife has been upset the moment the new broke that Russia invaded the Ukraine. A lot of her friends are trying to get out of the country and have moved to neighbouring Georgia.

Also, the Russian soldiers has no clue about the invasion and neither does their family get any access to them. So once you enlisted in the Red Army you are owned by the state.

There are mothers who can't even bury their sons

Lets just be clear, Putin is an Evil dictator that pulls all the strings and a master manipulator.

2 different perspectives...it's easy to judge, but a different thing walking in another man's shoes...we surely don't have all the info...larger things might be at stake than just the ambitions of a madman...I am however 100% sure that the media isn't 100% truthful, maybe not even 50%...they never are...we are being played.

" this war is about to push the world into a global recession which impacts everyone negatively around the world. "

And it's by design...deliberate AF... and the war in Ukraine is not even half of it...crude was over $90 a barrel before Russia started making noise...

Depends on the narrative and what side of political spectrum your values are focused.

I agree with Korn on some points and we too have Ukrainian friends and I've been to Odessa, Kiev and Crimea. Spent quiet some time in Moscow several times as well as Sochi and St Petersburg and a few other towns. We're been married for 21 years. My wife is beautiful and fact never ages, is kind and considerate and highly intelligent was a Space Research Engineer in Korolev.Certainly not an arranged marriage and met by accident in Moscow whilst I was in Eastern Europe. She looks like a young Meryl Streep did in Deer Hunter and hardly ages.

She never voted for Putin but supports him in this Special Operation.

Strange...Putin got a 63% support at the polls and now has an 83% support according to Statista which is not Kremlin supported. You can google this if you doubt.

Pussy Riot is hardly a standard for true Russians...obscene and disturbing values who infringe on the values of Russian sensitivities and have no right to do so. A woman in SA got a gaol sentence for calling a black policeman a k..... even when she was in shock after being robbed.

What Pussy Riot did was far, far more disturbing.

Pussy Riot are mere magnets for West's hypocrisy – The Irish Times

This shit is real simple... Putin is the leader of the free world. End of fucking discussion. Stop spouting this American bullshit about how he is hated and there is mass unrest. Putin gives russians confidence on the world stage because they know that without him it'll be back to the days of dancing boris and CIA all over their political system like it used to be and they could have free reign over the world's richest nation for natural resources. Fuck America, fuck our sellout eu leaders and fuck all of the lefties that pushed our country to the brink for absolutely fucking nothing. If you cant take what I said then give me your address and I'll post you a free UN dildo that you can impail yourself on to your hearts content.

There is no excuse for war and bloodshed....funny I also met a Russian lady here in WC, and she is totally against this war and she also have very good friends in Ukraine that luckily got out of the war zone...I agree with king, Putin is a selfish Dictator that has no respect for his own people or life in general.... otherwise he won't send them into the slaughter house....there is no fucking free world!.....and the longer this war goes on, it will more than likely spread into other countries to....we should rather all hope and pray that it will stop soon.

Indeed, but it looks like the West doesn't really want to put an end to the war...as if they are quite happy to let things continue as they are...I see no urgent peace initiatives from anyone...does nobody find it odd?

The hypocrisy is that there are only 3 countries that USA in the world that they have NOT invaded or had military presence. Bhutan, Lichtenstein and Andorra. So much for "the holier than thou" hegemonic Big Brother....and not won one, either in actual or heart, except Civil...lol.

The scales are turning...the East will overtake the West...so much for western ideology of democracy which is a farce, spread by lies and interference.

(WW2 was won by Allies...supreme sacrifices were USSR 20 million,Br Commonwealth 466,000 and USA 298,000.)

The war on top of Covid will more than likely be the cause of a world recession. Markets are jittery and close to bearish....the war needs to stop like right now. No-one needs a recession.

I have no doubt that one way or another everyone no matter where in the world is being or is going to be negatively affected by a mindless war. People are close to dying in the streets in Sri Lanka because of a shortage of critical medication and food  and the world is not coming to their aid because of very limited resources. As always it's the poor who suffer the most.
