The England squad to tour New Zealand is as follows:

Prop: Joe Marler (Harlequins), Matt Mullan (London Wasps), Kieran Brookes (Newcastle Falcons), Henry Thomas (Sale Sharks), David Wilson (Bath)

Hooker: Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs), Joe Gray (Harlequins), Dave Ward (Harlequins), Rob Webber (Bath)

Locks: Dave Attwood (Bath), Joe Launchbury (London Wasps), Geoff Parling (Leicester Tigers), Ed Slater (Leicester Tigers)

Back Row: James Haskell (London Wasps), Tom Johnson (Exeter Chiefs), Matt Kvesic (Gloucester), Ben Morgan (Gloucester), Chris Robshaw (Harlequins)

Scrum-halves: Danny Care (Harlequins), Ben Youngs (Leicester Tigers)

Fly-halves: Freddie Burns (Gloucester), Danny Cipriani (Sale Sharks)

Centres: Kyle Eastmond (Bath), Manusamoa Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers), Henry Trinder (Gloucester), Billy Twelvetrees (Gloucester)

Back-three: Mike Brown (Harlequins), Jonny May (Gloucester), Chris Pennell (Worcester Warriors), Marland Yarde (London Irish)

Must say, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this squad and I'd be pretty insulted if I was a Kiwi.

Looks to me like Stuart Lancaster doesn't really give a toss about this tour and he's picked a B team. Perhaps he has a lot of injuries I'm not aware of and I'm sure becs and Dave will set me straight but where are Dylan Hartley, Alex Corbisiero, the Vunipola brothers, Courtney Lawes, Tom Croft, Tom Wood, Owen Farrell, Alex Goode, Leroy Burrell, Chris Ashton and Ben Foden . . . to name a few?

Hope the Welsh send us a stronger squad than this sorry lot.

Dylan Hartley was injured but I think he's been cleared to play this weekend. It's the Aviva premiership final this weekend between saracens n saints so a lot of those players you've mentioned above will be playing. Don't know if Croft or Woods are injured or fallen out of favour. Given a choice between Foden and Brown I'd pick Brown any day of the week.

Yeah I have to agree this is not the best team...But maybe Lancaster is thinking that the experience for these players are better then just the here and now win.RWC are won by a mix of experience and youth.Think we are going to see a few dismal England performances. But then again I don't expect the Kiwis to be that hot either.

It seems that the English Clubs has the final say as to who is to be released by them to play for the England team.    That really is farcical - and I can understand that Lancaster must be frustrated as well.   He has to put up with the nonsence menating from the Clubs as well.
He cannot get Saracens players - because they are playing in teh Aviva Cup final this weekend - that is the real farce in that case.
But then - what can you expect from the English? if United Kingdom Independence Party can win the European Parliament election what else is possible?  Mind  you the French has also gone weird.  They fill up the Toulon team with foreign players and National Front got most votes in France.  The party is against immigrants - but I suppose that policy does not apply to gold-digging rugby players.

Uhmm. Have you thought about the fact that this is an EOYT for England? In addition the clubs have no option not to release players.  IR B International window ring a bell?

ForeverArizona, you're quite ignorant towards life. It's quite clear that you're borderline racist with your cringey life story that you published on here... UKIP are stupid, they don't understand globalisation and feed off ignorant voters who believe all immigrants are bad. They day I see UKIP lead Britain is the day I leave.

Anyway, players from the Saints and Saracens are not included because of the Premiership Final. Englands best chance of winning is their third tour match against New Zealand, they would have had their full squad with Lancasters starters having played a match to gel and what not.

Not to worry - in a general election with first past the post in constituencies UKIP and the Lib Dems will split the vote and Labour will win.  The only thing that should bother you is Labour believes in taxing  the hell out of the salary earners and businessmen and to borrow money beyond your wildest dreams to care for the lazy and spineless.  That would last for five years and the circus will be back in town.
Oops - this is political - so lets get back to rugby.  After five years Saracens will have a starting line-up consisting of 12 SA players and Lancaster will have no problem in that case in selecting players for the English team.

I heard somewhere that Brenden Venter is cutting his ties with Saracens, this true? I hope so, gives him more time to focus on SA rugby!

Bwahahaha. Saracens do not even have 12 South African Players. Ou DomPoepol has obviously counted Mauritz Botha, Jacques Burger, Bradly Barritt, Justin Melck and Matt Stevens as SA players.

The only SA players in the Saracens squad are:
Schalk Britz
Jarred Saunders
Petrus du Plessis
Alister Hargreaves
Nick Felton-Wells
Ernst Joubert
Neil de Kock.

Of those only Britz, Hargreaves, Joubert and De Kock are likely to feature in the Premiership final. The England players who will probably be in the final are players like Barritt, Billy Vunipola, Chris Ashton and Andy Goode. Owen Farrel and Mako Vunipola are injured.

Ceradyne do you not understand the word after. Mike said after 5 years, not before the 5 years AFTER, so we're talking 2019 (Not 2014,2015,2016,2017 and 2018) . Now how about you discuss rugby matters rather than biting at Mikes feet?

"After two years Heyneke Meyer has not beaten the All Blacks". "After more than ten years the Stormers have not been able to win a Super Rugby title". "After 9 years the Cheetahs are not much better than they were when they started off in Super Rugby". None of those "afters" refer to five years into the future. The all refer to times past.

He means after 5 years from now. You know what he means, the use of the word has a double meaning and can be used in different ways. You're being quite ratty in trying to make him look stupid, if I could be bothered I could easily find occurrences of the use of the word 'after' that support Mike, but I can't because I'm not as petty as you.
How about you fuck off, you do not benefit anyone on this board and you're not particularly liked. I am honestly starting to think you're trying to troll for what Beeno calls 'Kamp SS'. I have no idea what happened with 'Kamp SS', but this is a rugby board not an English language board. So stop being such a harlot.

The Scots are voting from independence from the UK. So, if they do decide to break away it will  still be The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern  Ireland, I suppose. Fact is that at the moment England, like Scotland, is not Britain but one of the countries that  form  the UK.

Anyone that thinks  in the next general election (2015) it will be Labour that will win is a dead idiot. People are so sick of the state of this country. Imigration is a mess and the "multi cultural society" being promoted by both the Labour and Torries is very tasteless in every ones mouth. Also, with a growing debt crisis we cant afford to spend £52 Million pounds a day to stay in the EU, its bloody farcical.

Yeah mark my words, we will see. The fact that UKIP got so many votes is a clear message. Be a dumb and deaf idiot to ignore the majority. There is a new dog in town and his name is UKIP.

If they are not bringing a full strength team they should just be told to piss off and not bother showing up.
May as well just continue the SuperXV as a continuous tournament as it was before for many years since its inception.
I thought the Southern Hemisphere had made a compromise by scheduling the N.Tours during our international club competition to make it easier for the Northern Hemisphere teams to play within their season.
If not, why was the SuperXV/International schedule changed in the first place?
If the Northern Hemishpere only want to play the Southern Hemishpere in Europe at the end of the year that is fine, they are rarely competitive in the Southern Hemishpere with a complete squad- let alone a bunch of B team muppets.]

The history books are probably going to show losses anyway, but now it is going to show massacres.

Oh dear lord, I have already explained the situation a number of times !!

I don't have many minutes now, but I will just say that this is the first wave of players heading to NZ. A number of players are injured, yes, and won't be in the Squad at all. They include Croft and Corbisiero, who only came back at the end of the Season, but who missed so much Rugby that they are being given the time now to get their injuries fully healed, to have a full pre-season and to, hopefully, be fully fit come next year. Cole has been injured since mid 6 Nations. His neck injury is so severe that it has not settled with Physio and rest, so he is heading for an op this next few weeks.
Wade has not played for weeks and has been sent for intensive re-hab in America. Nowell has had to have an op and is out of contention.

Hartley has been out for weeks. He failed to make the team for the Amlin Cup match and is a doubt still for this weekend. He might travel with the team to NZ, the second wave of players, and may play some part at some point, but is a huge doubt.

Tom Youngs is staying at home to be with his wife who is ill. She is undergoing treatment for illness and he has been told to stay at home with her.

Rob Webber, our third choice Hooker, is still carrying an injury and was unfit to play in the Amlin Final for Bath, but has been included in the initial Squad to travel.

George Ford, our second choice Fly Half, has gone straight in for an operation on a shoulder injury so he is unfit to travel and will play no part in the Tour. He was expected to start the First Test in Farrell's absence.

Billy Twelvetrees has been injured for the latter part of the season and is a doubt for the Tests. We hope he will be fit to play some part at some point.

Right, now on to the explanation as to where the rest of the Squad are YET AGAIN !!!

We are playing the Premiership Final on Saturday. It involves Northampton and Saracens. You all know who plays for these teams ? So you know who will be absent from the England Squad for the First Test. Likewise, you will be aware that we have played an Amlin Trophy Final ( Northampton/Bath ) Wasps played Stade for the final place in next yrs Euro comp, we had Leics/Quins/Sarries and Saints all playing each other in the Prem Semi's and Sarries played Toulon in the HC last Saturday.....none of these players have been in the England Camp for the weeks until they were out of competitions. Lancaster has had a nightmare of a time trying to work out which players he would be able to take with him and hoping no-one else would get injured in the mean time. He also has had to arrange the team to play the Barbarians.

The schedule is, at best, shocking planning....at worst a really ill advised exercise that could impact badly on the team.
And they are the ones that are being shoved out there and are having to deal with it.

I can discuss this further when I have time.....and the comments about the election. Some very stupid and ill informed things here.
And yes, we have the Election in 2015.

Also, a point to make re Scottish Independence. The Union began when Scotland ASKED us to support them financially as they had no money. That is why we signed an Act of Union. That is the truth as to why the United Kingdom was born. Also, any Vote to leave a Union of FOUR COUNTRIES should involve a vote from all FOUR countries, not just ONE. We all know how that would work out !!!

Well becs, if you've explained this to us "a number of times" then I'm sure you'll be able to point out at least one post where you mentioned that the Northampton and Saracens players would be excluded . . . so go ahead. Thanks and sorry if I upset you with my questions.
Normally I'd support England on a tour like this but I hope this feeble squad gets hammered by the All Blacks. There's something seriously wrong with the IRB's scheduling if half the England squad misses out on the June tour because of a whole bunch of poorly scheduled cup finals. The June tours have a history dating back to the beginning of the last century and if some stupid Amlin Cup is more important then somebody's priorities are seriously screwed up.
Go All Blacks!

Rooinek, I have spoken about this on a number of threads last week. I believe Sas and I spoke a bit about it and I have spoken to other posters too. The threads are no longer on this page so I have no idea where they are, but there were at least two differing topic headings where this was discussed and I spoke about the whole scenario.
We even discussed Mike Brown and how he was likely to be fit after his injury and what a good player he is.

I also mentioned that Cipriani would be featuring strongly, particularly in the First Test. It appears that the nod to start will most likely have been given to Freddie Burns with him on the bench, so I am led to believe.
I think Henry Slade will be starting the match against the Barbarians.

As it stands, the Hooking position will go to Dave Ward.

You see, I'm sorry if you are offended by the team, but it is not exactly Mr Lancaster's fault nor is it that of the team. It's the men in suits who want to get every last penny out of the very tired individuals who have a long hard season and are now being expected to go out and face NZ like that.

The actual England fans are not best pleased that all the hard graft the team has done to gain some momentum and confidence will probably be obliterated in a few days time. But we certainly hope they will all go out there and do their damndest not to let the side down.

As for the pettiness about supporting NZ....who cares ? Just go ahead. It makes no odds to my team, now does it ?

One last thing, people. The actual brief of Ukip, something that has been lost amongst the scaremongering and witch hunting set about by the main parties because they are running scared and rightly so, they are a disgrace to politics, is that they are the United Kingdom Independence Party. That stands for independence from the European Union. That is their brief and their ticket on which they wish to be elected and have been by many people, about 4.something million apparently. They wish to force a referendum, something we have been promised for years and not been given;we all know why. And no, I didn't vote for them, nor did I vote for any of the other main parties.

To cause yet more offence, it seems that Marler and Mako Vunipola really are struggling with their injuries, so Nathan Catt, another uncapped Prop, looks likely to be in the starting line-up for the First Test. They really are doing this on purpose, getting all injured and stuff
Owen Farrell, of course, has an ankle sprain, which may yet rule him out of Saturday's Prem Final.....we shall have to see. We all know there are sprains and sprains.

And, of course, it is LUTHER BURRELL, not LEROY BURRELL. Not sure why people keep calling him that. but it's not his name ! And we all know why his name is absent from the initial wave of players, don't we ? Because he plays for Northampton.

What precisely is he supposed to do about a First Test arranged when he is not allowed to select any players involved in the Prem Final then Saffex ? Answer me that one. They have also arranged a money spinner for those SH merceneries that now like to call themselves the Barbarians, so a team has to be assembled to play against them at the weekend too.
What do you expect the man to do ? No, really ?

He didn't arrange the Tour and certain people around the team say the Eden Park Test was supposed to be the last Test not the First, which would have meant he could have had a full complement of whoever is fit players to choose from, but the powers that be tacked it on the start not the end.

We'll have to wait and see, but it's the last thing we need at the end of a long, hard season. And when I say we, I mean the England fans and the team. I'm not sure why the rest of you are getting on your high horses....unless it's just another excuse to have a bit of a dig at the English ?

Feel free and enjoy yourselves whilst you're at it !!!

Unintentionally, working out great for Lancaster to see some fresh blood against top notch competition. I think the Boks should use the EOYT in the same way but could you imagine the uproar and indignation if they sent a "B" side up north.

There would be no uproar or indignation from me whatsoever; we play these Tours at the end of our Seasons. There are injuries all over the place and, from our point of view, our Season is not yet over, so this is a fixture congestion.

It is what it is. As far as I am concerned, it is ill advised and could backfire terribly. But it is not Mr Lancaster's decision. He is being left to pick up the pieces and to try and make the best of what he has on offer. I hope the players do the same for him. And we, the England fans, are just going to have to sit and watch and hope. Because we are the ones who understand the predicament that he and the team have been placed in, through no fault of their own.
We will learn who cuts the mustard and who doesn't....but we jolly well could be doing without the stress, that's for sure !!
