like the Ozzies and Kiwis so as to gain the respect of the rugby world? ....and do we want to dump traditional Bok strengths and imitate them instead?

Well we keep coming second to NZ and I suspect the same will be happening against Oz this year, so something has to change.

The simple change that needs to happen is that players need to be empowered to express themselves on attack......this can only happen if there is a gameplan in place to support this

Yes we do have to change, kicking the ball for territory is no longer as productive as it once was as the laws favour the attacking team, simple really. HM is getting the perfect balance.

No we don't have to change our Bok pattern. The Saders destroyed us because of turnovers, very ineffective kicking and atrocious tackling by the backs. We turned over the ball 25 times to the Saders 13. It wasn't the pattern at fault when Jordaan got beaten  through the outside gap by Read.
As usual...Lambie, Reinach and Jordaan have no culpability according to the usual groupies. But in truth, they were involved in almost every Saders breakout.

The issue is that we do not really need to change the game plan - we need to ensure that it is executed to perfection and that is where the whole thing goes wrong.
We are saddled with players who are clueless about the reading of the game and habe no idea about how to play in given circumstances.    They lkick when they should pass and vice versa.   If they habe to pass the ball they are clueless about the timing of passes and  they are also completely void about who to pass to.   Running of lines - what is that?  they apparently have no idea about the meaning of that concept.
In between the ball skills of players are not up to standard and way too many balls go missing.   Off-;loading in tackles is not in much evidence and normally non-productive.
It is not the players the groupies promote - it are the others that causes most problems.   The aimless and ineffective kicking of the Morne Steyns and Francois Steyns f this country and their deficiencies in reading games are notorious.
The issue here is not individual players - it is about the execution of the game plan.  The question remains in broad terms  what is to be done:-
*   Select suitable players to execute the game plan.
*  Do not select players without ball sense and reading of the game in key positions
*  Enhance the ball skills of players
*  Enhance the kicking game of key players to avoid the endless number of aimless kicks we have to deal with here.
*  Deal constructively with breakdown ball protection and recovery - forgt about players who are not capable of doing it.
The key remains - pick the right players and hone in and refine their skills in execution.
Proper selection and  coaching has the potential to turn outr fortunes around 100%.  Wriong selections would not improve the situation - because the players invovled will not benefit from coaching

All nonsense. We were very competitive in every international we have played over the last year.....we had a damn good shot in NZ and lost because of cards....we had a damn good shot at Ellis Park until groupie favorite JJ coughed the ball up at half time.

Here the thing....even including groupie  favorites there is no South African back that would be chosen for NZ. Not even Jean or Willie. But Oom and particularly Dave want to make it a man to man contest with our backs against their backs. It's a dead certain loser.

The duds at Ellis [Park included Alberts, Kruger and Morne Steyn as well - not only JJ.
I think that Morne Steyn and Alberts topped the list of incompetents - followed by JJ and Kruger.
Who are the groupies you talk about?   There is only one strong JJ supporter and that is Saffex - he cannot be a groupie on his own.
And your interpretation is totally inadequate.  There are two or three player changes needed to make us more competitive and nobody really want to advocate changes to the game plan - they are all in favour of improving the execution.   And for that there are definitely some changes needed.
Those include getting rid of two players - Steyn and Alberts - forget about the non-physical Matfield.   That should do teh trick this time around.

Bwhaaahaaaaa, the Boks don't need to change the way they play oh boy - talk about naïve.

The Saders beat the Sharks with consummate ease because they played the game as it should be.......when they created opportunities they attacked with confidence........as opposed to the Sharks who squandered good possession through a stifled gameplan

As for our backs not being chosen by NZ, what nonsense......Smith, is no better than Hougaard, de Klerk, Reinach, v/Zyl

Cruden and Barrett are no better than Goosen, Lambie and Pollard

Nonu is not better than Jean and none of the young Kiwi 12's are anywhere near as good a Serfontein

Conrad Smith is not better than Fourie, Fikataou looks a great prospect at 13, but then again JJ got the better of Conrad at S15 and in the tests last year and de Allende could be as good as Fikataou at 13

Willie is one of the best players in the game, better than Smith and Dagg

JP and Habana have the measure of most Kiwi wings

The difference is the way in which the Kiwi vs the SA players are directed, the Kiwi's are empowered to express themselves, the Boks are stifled by dogmatism

Beenkop, I have just seen that pathetic team, I had to laugh when I saw the loose trio and centre pair, not to mention Schalk on the bench......this side is not much better than the standard Bok side selected.....its all a load of shit

Our backs are the best in the world just our conservative coaches do not allow them to express themselves on and off the field. If our backs were allowed to turn the rugby pitch into a canvas their would be more poetry in motion.

Jean is still the best enter we have until proven otherwise you halfwit. Allende is a very good prospect there are well. You have said Louw could pla y 7 and Coetzee at six so what is your problem apart from a lack of judgement. Bwahahahhahahaha
Try and recall how you tried to throw away Jean and Habana before their time and apply lesson learned to Schalk. Wake up snapster you are fast asleep!
