Are you really believing that five long distance penalty kicks in 7 matches are all that is needed to rank a player as a great player?   That must be really the extreme limit of stupidity.   
Incidentally - the longest distance penalty kick I have ever seen converted was in a test in Pretoria when Tiny Naude converted a penalty kick from 10 meters outside his own 22 = so did that one kick made Naude the greatest lock ever?

The penalty by Tiny Naude was circa 70 meters - Steyn's efforts are at the utmost 55 meters.   But then the angle must be favourable - if not he failed like he did on Saturday.

im a little shocked and impressed, lolz,

no doubt frans boot is impressive,  prob the biggest in world rugby at the moment.

his power and long range prowess, plus mornes sniper accuracy mixed in with fourie du preezs pinpoint accurate prowess, was the foundation of the Boks impressive whitewash victory over the All Blacks in 09, more so morne and du preez.

the 2009 hiding we copped in SA, plus the loss at home in hamilton (thrid ever to the Boks since their readmission), forced the All Blacks expansive attack plan to evolve.

All Blacks have always favoured an expansive game plan, but it wasnt perfect, and after 09 where the Boks exploited our weakness with devastating effect, the three wise men, henry smith and hansen went back to the drawing board.
long story short, All Blacks became the best team under the highball on both defence and attack, and a big reason for the higher then usual rate of dominance the All Blacks have been crushing everyone beneath their feet.
