I heard the commentators going on about how many tackles he made…but they were all process phase tackles. What they don’t mention is he missed 5….three in the lead up to the near try that Kitshoff saved.

He was a constant presence at the breakdown they say. But he accomplished nothing. At least 5 times he was over the ball and bottled out. He has no instinct for fetching.

But what about his ball carrying…wasn’t that great. Nope 5 toothless carries for 13 metres hardly changed a thing.

Added to his 3 penalties conceded, the golden boy in practical terms had another disastrous outing. We can’t go into the WC with two flanks, Dud and Kolisi, neither of which is a factor at the breakdown. Posters wonder why Bargie dominated possession in the second half, look no further than our toothless breakdown performance.

Analytics in rugby is in the stone age compared to the NFL. In the NFL in-game analysis alone is so sharp that a missed tackle would be blood in the water. They train their players on fine details, like opposition eye-line, feet position, hip position, tendencies, etc. If rugby had the intellectual capacity of American football, even at primary school level, the likes of Damian and Steph would have been found out before ever coming close to making the pros. Rugby punditry and journalism have the collective IQ of a three-hundred-year-old stale fart trapped in a jar.

Yes, the breakdown was the number 1 reason the Boks played so badly today.
Van Staden was missing in action, and Vermuelen and Marx were poor at the breakdown.

Du Toit was poor, and it at this stage questions must be asked if he is ever going to get back into his top form.

Flab Malherbe is another that has not been in form for ages. The Bok scrum has been useless this year so far. Koch may be a better option- he looks more professional.

Orrie was useless, and Delande is not the answer.
I predicted before the game that my biggest concern was the midfield- and its complete lack of creativity.
Delande thinks he is a forward that just wants to run straight and carry the ball up.

In a piss poor Bok performance PSDT was one of the few who stood tall, he had a good game. He has definitely rediscovered his form PSDT, Eben, Marx, Kitshoff and de Allende were good the rest pretty average

He stood tall when he should have been bent over the ball on the deck.

Most missed tackles, most penalties, most turnovers conceded….Dud had a horrible game.

Disagree apart from the few silly penalties he conceded he was all over the park - very physical in driving the Argies back - it’s what we need from our blindside - a physical presence

Steph is a terrible flank. 17th best of the SH of 2019 was about the peak of his powers. We've paid a heavy price for this myth.

Steph, for all of his production, was literally ranked 17th best flank in SH rugby in 2019. He was ranked 29th of 30 players for attack stats by possession volume (of SA carriers) , and ranked less than 20 for top tacklers by volume for efficiency. His test stats mirrored his super rugby stats, and he never ranked anywhere in the top 10 for anything in the 2019 WC.

One could write their attack on Du Toit before the match is even played. Hahahaha such extreme bias is hilarious.

I was quite kind to Steph against NZ. There is no bias here. I merely have loyalty to the truth!

One could pretty much write the Dud Toit match report before the match…lots of process tackles/all open field tackles missed….lots of runs/same number of metres….no offloads/ a few penalties.

FFS can’t you see him pulling out of every fetching opportunity. He just can’t make himself pile in and fight for the ball.

Etzebeth demonstrated yesterday that a lock can make penetrative runs..   what the hell is the point of your main forward ball carrier never being able to breach the defence. We have no forward running game, primarily because Dud is the designated runner.

Doos your ranking of 17 is the biggest load on shit I have ever read but just to convince me otherwise, kindly provide me with the evidence of him being ranked 17th in 2019 you lying prick Moz, PSDT was good against the Argies easily one of our best players on the day, his physicality was evident He is not there to effect turnovers - one would swear we saw useless Mostert turning ball over while playing 7
