Earl Silky Hands Jantjies - the super destroyer of match winning chances.

The coaching staff did one correct thing insofar as the Lions chances of winning against the Cheetahs is concerned and one wrong thing. The correct thing was to play Boshoff at flyhalf - the wrong thing to rep[ace him with Earl Silky Hands at minute 60 of the game. While Boshoff was on the field of play, he was really very good - his strategic kicking and relieving kicking was excellent and his goalkicking was 100%. The Lions backline had some really brilliant moves and Stokkies Hanekom, scored a brilliant try. On came Earl Silky Hands and he failed in both his goal kicking attempts - both were pressure kicks and consequently he buggered up. Earl Silky Hands is a real liability for any team and the Lions will b e well-advised to steer as far as possible away from this one. Vodacom Cup is the highest level of rugby he should play - anything higher and he becomes a stress fracture all on his own. After today - when he saved WP all on his own from near-certain defeat - there is no way that hey would sign him up for next years Super 15. He is too big a liability for any team to have and I am beginning to think that the Lions will also not sign him after his shocking displays over the past two weeks. Question of the week remains - who will sign up Earl Silky Hands next? Definitely not any of the teams that played in the CC over this weekend.

 

Tell you, Mike … this man is absolutely pathetic. He infuriates me like no-one else can.

 

Once again he cost us a victory.

 

Ackerman seems to be a little slow on the uptake as well. While everyone else on the planet can see how useless Jantjies actually is (apart from Stupid Dave of course) Ackers doesn’t.

 

Jantjies couldn’t even reach the crossbar with his conversion attempt.

 

If they continue playing this chump. we'll be fighting to stay in the Currie Cup next year.

 The flyhalf position needs a guy with an ice cool temprement. It is here that jantjes is not cutting it. Possibly he will get better as he matures as a player but thankfully not at ours (WP) or the boks expense.

His brother seems a similar sort of player?

What can I say, I agree 100%. It is no joke, he is exactly the same kind of player as Earl Rose, he has moments of brilliance, but he is just not reliable enough. he is young and may still turn it around, but unfortunately I don't think that will happen.

 

Both brothers cost their sides victory this weekend.

 

Tony may have the excuse of being a first timer at this level and could improve with a little more game time. Earl on the other hand has no excuse. He is a seasoned rugby player. Supposedly a proffessional.

 

Like I said in an earlier post, this arse suffers from his nerves and will not amount to much till this issue is sorted.

 HEY OU MAAAIKIE YOIU MAY HAVE GOT IT RIGHT FOR ONCE!! 

Cape Town - Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann has admitted to making a mistake when he substituted flyhalf Marnitz Boshoff in their 30-29 loss to the Cheetahs in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Boshoff was replaced by Elton Jantjies in the second half and the latter missed a vital conversion late on which would have given the hosts victory.

Boshoff's goal-kicking was impeccable all day and Ackermann said the initial plan was to shift Boshoff to fullback once Jantjies came on.

"I made the mistake to take the wrong man off the field," Ackermann told the Beeld website.

"We decided beforehand that should Elton come on, then we'll shift Marnitz to fullback and take Chrysander Botha off.

"With everything going on there was confusion and before I could realise what was going on, Marnitz was already off the field.

"It was important for us to have Marnitz's (kicking) boot on the field until the end."

Ackermann said he wanted to get Jantjies on at flyhalf because Boshoff made a few errors on defence.

That's a big worry ... when the coach doesn't know that Jantjies is in fact a defensive liability ... far worse than anyone else in the team.
