The above is an amazing match - the fact is that Van der Merwe was contracted on leaving school by the Bulls and never used by the idiotic coach Ludeke. He then went as a junior player to Montpellier and managed to play two club games - which turned out to be star performances and was contracted by the Edinburgh Club - who found him to be a star performer.
If Erasmus does not use him quickly he will soon be lost by SA Rugby and will likely become one of the best wings in the world playing for Scotland.
Van der Walt for years was contracted by the Lions who utilized him as a flyhalf - but virtually never played for the Lions on higher levels because of the failure Jantjies. He is making his way s Edinburgh flyhalf - one of their key players - and will soon also be playing for Scotland.
There are already SA players who have played for Scotland and the above two will be in their team soon enough. There are others like Pierre Schoeman also on that list.
