I am not talking cricket here - they were disgustingly poor in any event - it is the Heineken Cup I am referring to.
After much backroom negotiations it was announced that the English and French clubs will withdraw from the Heineken Cup competition next year and that other clubs have been invited to join them - some actually did.
However, they could not get the blessing of the national rugby authorities of England and France - but carried on regardless.
The real problem came when the French clubs found out that the English clubs want to lay down rules that would be contrary to their interests and the French then slipped quietly out of the agreement to leave the Heineken Cup the question now is what are they going to do insofar as European competition next year is concerned.
