So, the plan is for Jones to coach through to the completion of the 2019 World Cup in Japan, then groom a successor for the next two years. Of ourselves, performance between now and the World Cup may hasten Jones' exit. If only we could learn form this. A little foresight and caution.

Not easy - this one. Jones is an excellent coach with problems with the England club set-up. They coach players to play the BS rugby we frequently see on DSTV - and he has to get the BS out of the club players. Very difficult indeed.
Meyer had a similar problem. He kept the players from the Lions out of his squad because he could not coach them to play the BS rugby he wanted the team to play.
