Is the timing a coincidence?

This tour pits SA against three teams that have made strength and static phases the core of their game.

Admittedly, England's project of rugby is more expansive. But Italy's is not. Neither is Wales'.  They rely on strong men with a simple game plan: impose as many contests of strength as possible. Wales' attacks on a defensive line are basically picking up the ball, running at the opposition to smash them for good.

Once again, none of these rugbys threaten NZ rugby, NZ is ahead.

Now if SA fails to beat Wales, which is likely to happen, this would mean that SA is an inferior side to play a style they got reputed for.

SA rugby is of course not a top tiers rugby. This tour has exposed that SA is not even the reference for a type of rugby: England, Italy and probably Wales are better at strength based rugby.
