It seems like Am and Pollard are out for the season The squad needs to be a big one as they play 2 midweek games along with the 4 tests They should play their strongest 23 against Ireland, France and England and then play their B side against Italy, Munster and Exeter My squad would be: 15. Willie / Gelant / Fassi 14/11. Mapimpi / Nkosi/ Tambwe/ Moodie / Kolbe 12/13. de Allende/ Kriel / Esterhuizen/ Willemse/ Sango Xamlashe/ Rohan Janse v Rensburg / Rickus Pretorious 10. Jantjies/ Goosen / Libbok 9. Faf / Hendrikse/ Jantjies/ Papier 1/3. Kitshoff / Ox/ Malherbe / Nyakane/ Wilco Louw/ Thomas du Toit / Gerhard Steenkamp 2. Marx / Mbonambi/ Dweba/ Grobelaar 4/5. Etzebeth / Jason Jenkins/ Lood / RG Snyman/ Ruben Schoeman/ Ruben v Heerden 6/7/8. Kolisi/ Kwagga / Buthelezi / Vincent Tsituka / PSDT/ Elrigh Louw/ JL du Preez/ Roos / Dan du Preez/ Wiese B side could be along the lines of: 15. Fassi 14. Tambwe 13. Xamlashe 12. Rickus Pretorious 11. Moodie 10. Libbok 9. Jantjies 1. Steenkamp 2. Dweba 3. Wilco 4. Jenkins 5. Ruben v Heerden 6. Buthelezi 7. Elrigh Louw 8. Dan du Preez 16. Grobelaar 17. Ox 18. Nyakane 19. Ruben Schoeman 20. Tsituka 21. Papier 22. Jantjies 23. Janse v Rensburg

Really decent squad but can see at least half of the team not being picked by our brave coaches.

My only question,

Why keep picking Janjties, the guy needs to sort his life out and start playing decent rugby that he can be judged on before picking him. Not try to play him into form during test matches.

I would go as far as picking an all out URC based team and then the others as reserves or on the bench.

  1. Kittshof (Ox)
  2. Mbenambi (Marx)
  3. Du Toit (Malherbe)
  4. Etzebeth
  5. Moerat (No decent locks in URC teams)
  6. Coetzee (Kolisi)
  7. Louw
  8. Roos
  9. Hendrikse
  10. Goosen (If fit and performing)
  11. Arendse
  12. Willemse
  13. Moodie
  14. Tambwe
  15. Fassi
Struggling with the backs and at lock a bit but could still be a world beating team.
I didn't feel that positive about our local players at the start of the URC last season, but 12 months is a long time in Rugby and all of the top 18 bok players have dropped drastically in form.

With Pollard out we need the only other experienced 10 we have in Jantjies If Goosen proves his fitness I’d start him at 10

Dave

With respect I think Jantjies has become a liability and a bad one at that - he is and has been a failure recently.   Goosen - yes he is a good flyhalf - but will he be fit to play?

In fact I think for team building purposes they should instead  go with younger players like Wolhuter and  Ngomeszulu and use them in the mid-week games.    I do not think Libbok is better than those two - he is another Bosch and Robert du Preez and will be unable to take the step up from franchise to international level.

We in future cannot rely in 2023 on only Pollard and Willemse as flyhalfs - we need back-ups to cover the position and I believe Ngomezulu and Wolhuter are the answers.

Good Squad but Kriel should get Lost....he does nothing to justify him in the Squad...agree completely on Kade + Sacha and Jantjies should get his act together quickly.....like the fact Jenkins, Ruben and RG is in Tour Squad.....these guys are good.

oh dear ... everyone seems to think this is good squad.

the mediocre have become our "good" squad.

i remember when a good starting 15 looked like this.

beast, smit, jannie, bakkies, matfield, schalk, juan, du preez, butch, habana, de villiers, fourie, pietersen, Montgomery

now we are stuck with the jantjies of the world ... with kolisi, de lindy, willemse ... du toit ... bongi, lood, dweebs, gelant ... and everyone gasps in wonder at our depth.

how things have changed.

Who could ever forget Boshoff as your Bok 10 With all due respect you know fuck all about rugby

Kornbobblers still doesn't fucking get it. Cc still doesn't get it. In absence of a shitty Pollard who hasn't had a good game in about seven years you think Jantjies is a quota. Fucking hilarious. Some get a pass others get shit on but in the end you are all bigoted towards some shit that really doesn't pass what you say are "high standards". Kwagga is the ONLY absolute world class player and yes Kolisi is now a quota because of how well Kwagga is. Marx is a GOOD player... not a complete player... So he fucks up and this gives others an opening. Marx is better at the breakdown but Bongi is the better overall player in general play. Marx defends like he has the upper body of a coat hanger. Gets fucked a lot on defence. Roos??? Fucked in the ass by the Wallies. Does he deserve anither shot? Not yet because Wiese outplays the cunt. 13s... Am is a bit better in defence than Kriel. Am HAD a good offload but he is really fucking shitty passing now because of the low standards of the Blocks. Any kind of squirted piss ball gets the bozos here a hard on... like Mozart and Sonny Bill De Lindy! XD! The big depth is shit. Only survive when other teams play down to your level. And that's because the coaches aren't stupid enough to play your idea of rugby which is total idiot speak nonsense.

well they dont ... you know why?

cause its the same list of chumps everytime you twit.
you should make it easier for yourself ... simply save your choice of quotas on your laptop ... then when you feel the urge to dazzle us all with you brilliance simply copy snd paste it on here.
easy huh?
truth he told, everyone on here can come up with the same list of second rate quotas.

you do know that ... right?

Having seen that beaut of a try, Blob ... can you in all honesty say that Malherbe would have managed hauling his fat ass across the field like that to score in the corner?

How about Trevor? Lord have mercy ... would he even have managed 30m?

How about Dweebs or Ox?

Yet these are Stupid's preferred choices ... and here he is lecturing me on Richard "the freight train" Bands.

I am still convinced that Stupid's mommy dropped him on his head when he was an infant.

Moodie's try was another magic moment, but it was brief .....run jump gather sprint score...........Bands ....was on the run, from the halfway line blikseming defenders on his path to glory.

Richard Bands had his good moments and that try is a classic one....don't think malherbe can run like that, but his scrumming and Solid defense makes him better....my opinion.

I can imagine Dweba doing similar...

We wasted this guy. Explosive and powerful with an attacking mindset. I'd have involved him in the B ok setup since probably his second season.

Plum ... Dweebs probably does the 100 in 60 seconds.

Look at Marshal's desperate facial expression in trying to catch Freight Train Bands.

Every member of the All Blacks team would have caught Dweebs the lump within the first 20m.

Nah ... Bands for president is what I say.

Ja, on that highlight real Dweebs played amazing, but that was in the water down curry cup and URC early stages. Never had a chance to see how actually performs against a full strength Leinster or Glasgow team. He did play in France last year but have no idea how has been coming along. Although, he has oodles of potential. Have to agree with Saffex, got thrown to the wolves just so that the Physio can meet quota targets.

Did you okes see what is happening with SA20 cricket picks, the quoted didn't get drafted to any team. Probably the only time a team in SA doesn't have to pick quotas as it is their money and they can choose who they want in their team.

Just wish the rest of the professional teams would follow soon. Then we will finally see proper competition and those players of colour can finally feel assured that they are there on merit and not window dressing

Speaking of prop Tries, probably the only time bands ran at full tilt.

Don't forget Ollie "Cheddar Melt Special" le Roux. That guy had a turn of pace for a big guy. Even sold a dummy against Scotland int he World Cup against Scotland for a clean break and to score a try. He was the ultimate impact prop. Could only play for a bout 5 min though.

Well all the teams selected above have a few worthy players as Springboks in them.

But Jantjies/Libbok/Goosen are not.

By the way that Bands try was the best I have ever seen from a Prop and it was fantastic to see le Roux in action once more.

Ollie was one of the best motivational players in any team that he was part of.

Tough, dedicated and inspiring player with a personality that speaks volumes.

How some players even had the idea that they would be "BOUGHT" is beyond belief.

Still not convinced that it will result in any changes within the cricket political circles.

Dweba has been signed by the Stormers....explosive player he is,  but his Rugby strategic side must grow some more...and it's not going to grow with R&N, dobbo will do a better Job....they should have eased him in and the same can be said of Ivan Roos and Gelant......1 and 2 games for the boys and now all of a sudden they are trash??? Almost Every where in life you need more than one chance so WTF?? So many players have grown thru these bad games and became world class players, but got the chance to go at it again.

The video showing Dweba is impressive but as it was played against weaker teams and not test rugby.

Sure he was thrown in the deep end before he was ready but the hype surrounding him was unbelievable as to just how brilliant a player he is.

But it was a case of not producing the goods to support all the hype about him when the opportunity presented itself.

Many a player has performed well at a lower level of the game but failed miserably when called upon to wear the Green and Gold jersey.

Hopefully he will get more experience with the Stormers and then and only then should he be allow game time from the Springbok bench for starters.
