Insignificant when the Boks win.......lights out when the Boks lose.
'Eskom'.....
Eskom is definitely the definition of dumb muscle. He is tough, but not the answer to our ruck/turnover problems.
And why is PSDT still hanging around at wing? He is a loose forward that should actually be more involved at ruck time.
If he can’t compete at ruck time, why is he a loose forward? Yes he does tackle and has a occasional good run in traffic, but not at the level it should be.
In my opinion, he is a much better lock option.
With Mostert no option at all -he is not a lock and he is not a loosies arse or perhaps he is lhe latter.
Add Esterhuizen to the dead head player list and together with libbok a real farce.
A huge amunt of shit to get cleared out of the team that played yesterday.
== .
He was one of the best Bok forwards for the first 18 minutes before his HIA. Strong defense, dominant gainline success with every one of his 4 or 5 carries, involved in the breakdowns.
& our lineouts improved when MightyMostert wus on
blame it on our kak throw ins.
(Edit after revisiting the whole game) I'm not getting the Eskom hate for him in this game - he was one of our most involved forwards along with Marx, right through to the end. I'm not a huge fan, but he contributed positively throughout here.
We started sucking the moment Eskom when off.
Trust Denise to not notice that.
Plus, he's the Bok I'd least like to fright.
Agreed Pakie...and BTW, the whole team underperformed...blaming a few individuals are only undermining team spirit...the whole team as a collective...that includes the coaching team, must own up and put things right this week.
Eskom was lights out in the 20th minute when he left for an HIA. When he returned, his performance dropped. Then, when Kolisi left the pitch, the breakdown devolved into a comedy of errors.
The Ozzies have always been about phase play and quick passing to open up space.
I think that the opening 20 minutes were the best set of play the Boks have put together all year.
A total shock to collapse like that. It goes to show we can't field an international team without choosing players who can compete at the breakdown. At least 2 loose forwards and one tight forward need to be very effective at the breakdown.
As I schooled Saffex/Fat Dave on prior threads, there is no point picking a team of ball carriers if they can't compete at the ruck to win quick clean ball to set up phase play.
The breakdown wasn't that bad, SB. We had a short period after the opening blitz where we conceded 4 breakdown penalties in short succession because the guys simply started playing too loose. At 18:55 you can actually see Kolisi backing away as Marx carries instead of following him in, along with another cluster of forwards standing wide waiting to receive, leaving him totally isolated with only Grant in attendance while Fraser turns the ball over. It got better again later. We weren't being dominated at breakdown time, it was give and take, but it can definitely improve.
So a ter Esterhuizen was moved to Loosie did te breakdowns improve? Esterhuizen is a centers arse and a loosie Mega arse. I saw him at last in his 21st test scoring a try wih Kriela nd Du Toit setting up a try were Esterhuizen got te ball and trooe over he trylin with no defense in site, Making one line break ending up in nothing and 2 good tackles made by him and after that one big zero of any value. One cannot used brain dead players like Eskom and Esterhuizen on test level rugby.
Mike, when last have you been to the doctor for a checkup? Want jou fokken kop het jou definitief gelos.
