It's been difficult getting coverage of Juniors...but I did see the highlights of the final. What a disappointing tackle attempt on his opposite by Esterhuizen...but more importantly what a feeble effort to get back and save the day. The lad trotted back behind the move as if nothing was happening. As it transpired a Pom try was happening.
Esterhuizen disappoints
I was disappointed about Esterhuizen as well - his defense was poor and he did nothing much while he was ont eh field of play. Was much more impressed to see what Duhan Van der Merwe did when he replaced Esterhuizen after Dan Kriel was moved to center. Always looked dangerous and he had a crucial impact on the one try scored by Jesse Kriel. He should have been in the starting line up from the word go.
Our scrum was pap, our forwards were bullied all over the guff, and Corniel Els' departure proved costly too.
The English boys mastered their driving maul and outplayed us there, usually its the other way round. It was insane!!
Top performers =Jesse KrielHandre PollardCyle BrinkJD Schickerling
Aidon Davis, Duhan Van Der Merwe, Jacques Vermeulen, Warrick Gelant, Thomas Du Tiot, Pierre Schoeman, Wilco Louw and Jean-Luc Du Plessis played well given their chance but were not as good as the top 4.
I agree - Esterhuizen is too good a player to write off after one poor performance. He is the typoe of center that could play a role in future - but he needs to get more experience and start working more on his work rate.
I have a very high opinion of Jakkals Schickerling. He definitely has a very bright future ahead of him - and so does Kriel and Pollard. Matter of fact I think Pollard should figure in the 23 match day squad next Saturday.
Let me guess, because we all rate Esterhuizen, from now on every post about the guy from you will be a negative one - you are so predictable
"Let me guess, because we all rate Esterhuizen,....."
Who is "all"?......i see quite a few on here don't rate him, I'm one of them.
Denny if you bothered to actually contribute to this site instead of dropping in now and again, you might just be up to speed with what HAS been said about Esterhuizen........not what a few ignorant clowns including yourself have said after seeing him in one game.
For if you had watched him play for the Sharks against Sarries you would have seen how bloody good he was and why everyone raved about him......he scored a class try against them.
If you had seen him in the pool games and semi finals of the JWC you would also have picked up that he was a real handful scoring 2 tries in 3 games.
In the final he owned Sloan his opposite number in the physical confrontation and yes he missed a tackle in heavy underfoot conditions after effecting the rush......much like many others missed tackles
Your lovechild Jake White thinks the world of Esterhuizen, there is a reason he included the 19 year old in his S15 training squad - let me guess Jake has it wrong?
Geez talk about bloody ignorance
Name the incident when he gifted them a try - I know for a FACT that NEVER happened......take your time.
What about his beating of Sloan, his opposite number, what are your thoughts on that......oh shit I forgot, you never saw the game, just like you never saw any of his games or his brilliant performance against Sarries.
Moz it becomes a bit of a joke when you feel well placed to comment on a player you have not even bloody seen - get a grip man
It has become that chronic.
England's first try, right on the stroke of half-time, came after a missed tackle by Andre Esterhuizen. England piled on the pressure and quick recycling allowed No.11 Nathan Earle to stroll over on the opposite wing. Burns was wide with the conversion and England took a one-point (11-10) lead into the break.
"England's first try, right on the stroke of half-time, came after a missed tackle by Andre Esterhuizen. "
Kinda nails it in my book.
The Retard contributes.
Impressive!!!
You had me riveted.
Wow talk about another load of rubbish......the fact play went on for a number of phases after the Esterhuizen rush means nothing to you and the fool that wrote it speaks volumes for rugby ignorance.......you will find that other tackles were missed after the Esterhuizen rush before the try was scored - FACT
So to blame Esterhuizen, is not only inaccurate, it smacks of ignorance
So Dave, are you agreeing that he missed the tackle?
A simple yes or no will do.
Tx
Yes he missed a tackle but it did not directly result in the try as some would have us believe.......its simply far from the facts.
At NO point did I ever dispute that he missed a tackle

He was the first one. He started the rot.
I don't give a shit if he was the first one, there were a number to follow who missed tackles, so to blame him is both childish, ignorant and far from the truth.
Because I rate Esterhuizen, be sure to see Moz attempt to dish the dirt on this kid at every turn.......its just a pity his hero Jake rates him so........that will throw a spanner in the works

June 24, 2014, 13:20:02 We will all remember that when Morne Steyn inevitably misses a tackle that leads to a Try then, shall we ? He will be the " first one that started the rot " !
That was exactly with that in mind that I posted that, becs. Did you think that I did not post that for a reason? Back then the try was scored because Morne missed the first tackle. This time around it was scored, but not because Esterhuizen missed the first tackle.
As you can see from Saff's reply, after yours, he replied exactly in the way that I anticipated he would, when I made that post.
See how the goal posts get shifted around? When it was his pet hate, Morne who missed the first tackle, he was the main culprit and not his blue-eyed boy Engelbrecht. This time around his blue-eyed boy Esterhuizen, missed the first tackle and
lo and behold, the culprits are the next ones who gets blamed for the try.
Well the fact that its anything but as straightforward as you make it out to be defies belief, are you saying no other players missed tackles after the Esterhuizen miss and equally are you saying that because of one miss he now cant tackle, for if that is the case then Jean should never have played a single test
As for JJ well he has the best defensive stats of all S15 centres this year - I bet your counter to this will be about as accurate as the consequences to the Esterhuizen miss
Go read up on Esterhuizen's role in the JWC given you missed the whole tournament and especially Theron's take on his powerful defence
Correct. How could we have been so stupid about his defence in tests last year, when we clearly knew that his defence in S15 this year would be better?
With regards Morne Steyn, we all know he is a very poor tackler. To claim otherwise would be untrue. It is not a blip when he misses a tackle, so it is a comparison that would not really stand up, would it ? Stade have hardly played him all year, he has been poor when he has played for them and, in the matches against Wasps, he was pretty dire. You must have heard the commentary ? Much discussion about how poor his play was and about the fact that he is a one dimensional player anyway !
So, whilst there are myriad reasons a player can miss a tackle, not going to list them all now as I am too tired , in this instance your comment for comparison isn't really a wise one, is it ?
There you go becs. Fixed that for you. In any case, because he is alledgedly "a poor tackler" means that he has to carry the blame for that try but because "we think that Esterhuizen is a good tackler" he is totally innocent?
The crux is that this argument, like many others, is based on personal opinion and importantly personal bias. That was what I was getting at when I posted the comparison of the two situations. And, inters tingly, one of the two persons most guilty of this practice was also one of the first to respond in his typical boorish manner.
That try by Esterhizen where he ran through 2 baby blacks on the blindside was classic!!!
For a flyhalf I think Morne defends reasonably well. The thing really is should a flyhalf be expected go and regualrly bring down 120kg props etc. The forwards must do that. Remember how Northern Transvall used to very wisely wrap Naas up in cotton wool. Nass, when he had to, put in some brilliant tackles. However as Berman van Zyl once said if Naas had to get heavily envolved in tackling forward monsters how long would he last. Morne is a competent international flyhalf lacking only a bit of attacking flair.
Pollard looks to be a complete package and future great.
