Everything White says is Gospel - but there is trouble beteen Mozart's heroes

Every time White says anything connected to Rugby his minions on site echoes it like it is factual and every query about his utterances are buried under stings of abuses and attacks by especially Mozart

The following from News24 is a serious difference between White and Matfield so according to their adoring supporters who is wrong here:-

"Victor Matfield has hit back at Jake White’s claims that he is not yet ready to coach at the highest level.

Matfield and former Springbok and Bulls team-mate Fourie du Preez were recently mentioned as potential candidates to replace John Mitchell as coaches of the Pretoria-franchise, with the New Zealander seemingly set to leave the Bulls and join England as their defence coach.

White, a former Springbok coach, said via a column earlier this week that the legendary Springbok duo would not be the right men to take the Bulls forward.

“John Mitchell couldn’t get the Bulls to be successful this year. He’s got a longer CV than anyone on the Bulls shortlist and he had an 85-percent win-rate with the All Blacks. Put in the same situation, two guys with almost no coaching experience are not going to make it because they’re going to make their coaching mistakes at the highest level instead of at high school,” White wrote on the All Out Rugby website.

White also criticised the coaching structures in South African rugby. 

“How can you have a system where a guy who has never coached leapfrogs everybody? The truth may be frightening - there probably is no system. Why are we in that situation?

“We’re at the point where coaching experience is not required to be on the shortlist for a Super Rugby job. How far are we from having a Bok coach who has never coached?” White questioned.

Matfield, however, has hit back in an interview with Netwerk24, saying: “Jake has always had an opinion about everything. I wonder if he knows that I coached at the Bulls for three years and last season at the Lions. I believe there is a place for both (types) of coaches. The one who works himself up from school and club level and the one who makes the transition sooner.”

Matfield also used former Proteas cricketer Mark Boucher and current Bok coach Rassie Erasmus as examples of players who quickly became good coaches.

Boucher has achieved success with the Titans cricket team, while Erasmus coached the Cheetahs to the Currie Cup title in his first season after retiring from playing.

Matfield, however, said the reports linking him to the Bulls job were speculation and added that at the moment his focus was on his job as a pundit for SuperSport."

Based on his past history as a coach it can be accepted that White wants the Bulls job, thus getting a foothold in SA Rugby.   We can be sure he will start undermining of Erasmus should that happen.   Taking into account the Brumbies case - where he broke his contract in a huff because he did not get the position of Wallaby Coach - he wants to be  national coach by hell or high water.

Victor is a very smart person. Many coaches around the world have stated that he was like a coach on the field, and in certain aspects of the game, even smarter then they were. He may very well be a very good coach. Or he may not, this is one I'd have to wait and see.

Matfield was the attack coach for the Bulls in 2015 and failed miserably.  They could not release him fast enough to go to Northampton - they were so eager to get rid of him.  Not a good sign of coaching ability.   However, since he was standing around in the backline - he ma y be a backline coach - but I doubt whether that would work out better than he was as attack coach.  

This notion that Victor was standing around "in the backline" immediately discredits any credibility one has. So too this idea that forwards at first receiver are "in the fly half position". 

I mean, if that's the case, New Zealand must be a bunch of retards, they did it all game.

Dream on - what happened in the 2015 WC meant that the flyhalf only received about one-third of the balls - the other two-thirds went to forwards.  That never happens as a regular in NZ rugby - they may do it as a variance in play - but in any event the NZ loosies could make the system work since they have ball skills lacking in players Meyer used as loosies.

As to Matfield dream on - he was exactly what I said.   he avoided most rucks like a plague nd stood around behind the rucks and often enough received balls from the flyhalf and did bugger-all with it.       

Much respect for Matfield as a player but I don't think he will be a good coach.

Must be a huge achievement since Matfield was yellow-carded and for the rest did near to nothing in the game.  Being present at rucks and entering it are two hugely different propositions.  The English forwards ran over him like he was not there - hence the yellow card.

Wee matfiled, 105 kg is a con artist and reckons as he was able to con his way into the Bok team he now can do the same with coaching. its quite clear on TV when you hear real coaches like Mallet and Mitchell they know a huge amount more than doo foos wee matfiled and some of the other ignorant oaks trying to talk!

What is truly amazing is that some oaks here are so terribly gullible about wee matfiled.

Not as a lock - he does not shirk his Tight 5 responsibilities like Matfield did.
