-Bakkies would be proud. Eztebeth has been very physical and loves the handbag stuff, but has kept within the laws for most of his career.

The eye gouge is going to get him a lengthy suspension from the game.

Although that could give him a rest from the game, so perhaps not so bad for him if he wants to make the next World Cup.

World Rugby sanction guidelines set minimum entry points of around 12 weeks for intentional contact with the eyes, with mid-range and top-end cases extending to 18 weeks and 24 weeks or more, and maximum bans lasting multiple years in the most severe cases.?

Contact with the eye “area” or reckless rather than intentional contact has slightly lower entry points (for example, 4–6 weeks at the low end, increasing through 8–12+ weeks)

Just stupid. Even if the gouge wasn't deliberate, just stupidity. It's not even a high tension game.

There were some petty handbags stuff a couple of times...they did not show what got Eben so riled up...yes, I'm sure he wasn't going for they eye, but play silly games and win stupid prizes.

Was there any provocation is a question. Eben is actually not really a dirty player. He seems to have been enraged by something.

See what happens.

It's just the period of rest that will ensure he is ready for the RWC.

It's not a bad time to get a rest. Sharks are a shambles anyway.

That was fucking stupid of Eben - complete brain fart

Thinking about it - there might be method in his madness - he needs a long rest - the only way he can get that is by being banned for a while and not have to play for the Sharks :)

I felt sad for the Welsh players that was a test match that should never have taken place

“I’m sure he wasn’t going for the eyes”!! Really Draad?

Just have a look at the expression on Itsabutt’s dial. He knew exactly what he was doing!

Huge ban imminent and may almost finish him.

Etzebeth makes contact with the eye area of Mann during a grim end to a brutal afternoon for Welsh rugby and the game itself

It looks real bad. I wonder what triggered it.

I would guess lots of steroids as a teenager.

Oaks a big difference between touching the eye area and touching the eye.l itself.

According to Brendon Nel touching the eye are gives you from 4 to 12 weeks.

Touching tbe eye itself anything up to 3 years.

I don't thing Eben touched the eye. The Welshie seemed fine after the incident.

So given the bias of tbe disciinary court against South Africa it is likely Eben gets 12 weeks and I am sure the great man will appreciate the rest.

If he gets more take these buzzards to court.

Rooitwit doesn't like rough locks. Matfield and Albert Van Der Berg are his ideal locks. He can't stand great locks like Bakkies and Eben.

Hey Rooitwit I do hope you are also not one of these depower the scum nutters?

Eben is one of the very greatest locks to ever play the game so let's hope the shysters on the Disciplinery Committee don't attempt to end his career even though that would sit well with some MGU members. It's unfair the Boks have do many great players. Sob!

One has also to note the context. The Welshies were very embarrassed as the match was being concluded and were getting very uppity trying to assert themselves having been demolished in pure rugby terms.

Draad you are quite right once again. Thanks for not bending the knee to mob hysteria.

I don’t think Eben needs any more rest. He was hardly used this season and only play like 40 min along with his mate Kolisi. Time to move on from both. They need to fall into the Bongi category. 4th choice

Eben is being carefully managed for 2027.

Hopefully he makes it. Still has the fire.

Last season I was saying that we will never be able to replace Eben and that we need to manage him, that we would be lost without him. Rassie was flirting with Moerat. With all hope lost, but just looking how well our pack did this year it is almost like he just a cog and we have plenty others. He has been bullied all season and with his reputation he has become a target. How many times do we seem him in a tug job with the opposition players. Looking for trouble. Almost every game there is highlights real of him with eyes bulging out.

I love this guy, been Bakkies 2.0 but every player runs their course and if is better to step down than hang around like a lost fart in the wind, which some boks are still doing. Cough, Bongi, Willie.

This season he suffered from severe concussion and struggled to get game time. The previous season, when he did play for the Saarks, he was a man on a mission and it showed. Hope he can have a good break and prove what he has left in the tank.
