He is a classic scrumhalf- a small nippy livewire with lots of skills that is authoritative at the base of rucks to bring urgency and direction to the game.

He is so quick to clear at the base of rucks, he takes gaps, has a great service and his kicking game (Henieke Meyers requirement) is good.

His up and unders are accurate and go where they were intended, not just aimless kicks that sometimes work out.

Since Fourie Dupreez has been out of the international game for some time we have not had a classic scrumhalf.

-Hougaard is a half wing/ half scrummie with a limited kicking game, and a bit clumsy at the base of the ruck if his forwards are being put under pressure, and not delivering quick clean ball.

Hougard is great in a high tempo game when he is getting quick clean ball.  His breaks at the rucks and angled runs get his forward onto the front foot.

-Ruan Pienaar has slowed down and not as good as he was. Never really takes on the advantage line anymore and functions are a link player with a decent kicking game.

-Pretorius from the Cheetas is great around the fringes but has an average service. His kicking game is also limited.

- Groom is average, and Schroeder is useless and this is over rating him- and he got a bok call up last year.

-Charl Mcloeid has no x-factor and also loses his head under pressure. Reinach is solid but not as good as Faf De Klerk.

Little Faf made Aaron Smith look a bit average today.   Should r ather have had him in my fantasy selection than Hall - had him on the bench.

I'm going to be honest, I don't watch the Lions because they played a boring brand of rugby in SA and they got pummelled in their first tour match. I only watched the games against my Cheetahs and the Sharks and they were boring affairs. I'm not going to say much on De Klerk.
So IMO I think Reinach and Hougie are playing fantastic rugby, Hougie is getting more confident and it's showing in his performances. As long as Ruan Pienaar isn't in the Bok squad I'll be happy.
