Faf de Klerk released from squad

The following from News 24:-

"Springbok scrumhalf Faf de Klerk will not be available for Saturday’s Test against Scotland in Edinburgh.

De Klerk, who started in the No 9 jersey against France in Paris last weekend, was released on Monday to play for his English club Sale Sharks this weekend.

It’s uncertain if De Klerk will be available for the Springboks’ final Test of their year-end tour against Wales in Cardiff on November 24.

De Klerk also missed South Africa's first tour match against England as the encounter fell outside World Rugby’s Test window.

Ivan van Zyl started at scrumhalf against England, while Embrose Papier featured on the bench against England and France.

Louis Schreuder is the other scrumhalf in the Bok squad.

Coach Rassie Erasmus will name his team on Thursday, with Saturday's Test at Murrayfield scheduled for 19:20 (SA time)."

De Klerk had some very good games for the Springboks and was regarded as indispensable by many of us.   But his last two test performances can at best be regarded as way below expectations and that may be the reason for his release to play club rugby on Saturday. 

It does not help our situation - we had a crisis at scrummie and the two most recent performances by De Klerk had shown that he alone is not the answer to that problem.   Van Zyl was thus far not really the answer and there are question marks as to Papier and Schreuder as well.

I would not be surprised  if  Schreuder is not in the playing squad on Saturday - either starting or on the bench.    Papier may get the chance to start though.  

I think there was a clear message by Erasmus in the case of De Klerk - box kicking is part of the game - but not the whole game.  Both De Klerk and Van Zyl fell into the box kicking trap and it will be interesting to see who is picked at scrumhalf today.   I think it may be Schreuder - with Papier on the bench.   

Haven't been keeping very close tabs on Reinach but he was never terrible. 

Also some experience in Europe. May not have been a bad shout. Rassie must just not rate him very highly.

Dave can perhaps help here.    As far as I know Reinach had some good club games and one wonders how the performances on club level of De Klerk and Reinch can be compared.

I do not trust what Ceradunce routinely comes up with - but SB may have a clearer idea on the issue.

The box kicks were part of the gameplan. If you think they are excessive, point the finger at the coach. Against France, they worked several phases to set them up. It wasn't a haphazard decision. The kick is the foundation of the current Bok game. So who best provides that platform from 9? I don't rate Papier as anything more than the Reinach class of 9. We need a 9 who can play a pragmatic game first and foremost. 

Really - part of the game plan according to whom?   Kicks being the foundation of the current Bok game - according to whom? 

Two another statements that our dear fiend cannot prove.  Erasmus was negative about box kicks and never made comments about the inadequate ball skills of backline players like Meyer did - so where does his comments come from?  

I kind of missed him against the Scotts.
