Faf gets MOM
agreed Delande was excellent . Easily MOM.
Faff must be dropped if the Boks are going to persist with Box Kicks. Kicks from other players, were mostly effective. Many of Faff's box kicks went straight up.
This was weird - De Klerk's kicking game was pathetically inaccurate and otherwise he was active - but not impressive.
De Allende should have been MOM .
Ag Mike
Just give it a rest.
Faf is being ordered to kick. It's not his preference.
And his forced kicks aside he was a little legend on the field.
What more do you want from the guy? Maybe a few lineout steals and leg driving the opposition front row across the try line?
Your prejudice, as always, doesn't add anything to the debate.
The problem is that most of us could do better up and unders than Faff.
Plum
I had no problem with Faf's kicking - it was the poor execution and inaccuracy that I disliked. 90% of his kicks were possession handover kicks,

Funny guy
I never suggested Faf should be dropped despite the fact that his kicking game today was atrocious.
By the way De Allende played very well in tests this year - but a lot of site members refused to see it and credit him for actual performances.
.
Lood, Allende and if course Steph all did well.
Wonder how Dr Moz saw it.
Good to see Marx get his MOJO back and Be ast full of fight.
As Plum and others have noted Faf was playing undet orders. Pollard also kicked ball away as did Jantjes when he came on. Dont like it at all.
His kicking in the first 40 was pathetic. A lot more contestable in the second half. When he was subbed the base kicks didn't stop. Have a word with the coach if you want a different game plan.
We have no other 9 with the energy and ability to read the game on defence. Our game plan is built around defence. Without Faf we will not go any further. I agree that he needs to get more depth and accuracy to give our wings a chance.
Frans Malberbe is better at box kicks. Jantjies also does box kicks, but they were contestable, while also gaining some territory.
I missed the first half but his box kicks in the 2nd half just handed possesion over. 1 went all of 1m if that. Sorry but if that is a game plan to kick so often its just madness.
Yes use it but mix it up not telegraph it to the opposition
The carries by Lood, Etzebeth, Kitshoff and PSDT were very good - these guys impose themselves so well
Lood & Eben - 5 runs for 3m each
Kitsie 3 runs for 0m
PSDT 5 runs for 5m
ESPN stats has just been updated:
Lood - 5 runs for 4m
Eben - 6 runs for 4m
Kitsie - 3 runs for 0m
PSDT - 6 runs for 5m
The very pits of rugby performance evaluation is back. What he sees in games is not what relaly happened,
Has Clevermike been caught cheating by creating how own ESPN stats again?
No I did not even look at the stats for the match at all.
I think it's more a case of these numbers being "imposing" when it applies to the players you like Dave. If Mostert does 4m in 6 runs in traffic you're not going to call him anything other than powder puff.
Dimian was dumb muscle, faf did way more than him. Your centres were garbage. Without the bigger boys you guys take a beating. Lodewyk and Mbonami were big time in the power game right from the off. Mapimpi was your best back if we dont talk about faf. Thats about it.
If those are the ESPN stats then they are soooo poor
They might well be, I've pointed that out before but ou Mike for one thinks they're 100% infallible. Don't even dare question them in his presence.
The final stats are usually up around 12 hours after the game, although adjustments tend to be small. A meter or two this way, a tackle or two that way.
I'll run through the game again when a replay is available, live viewing seldom yields an accurate impression because there are too many things happening too fast. My impression was though that Lood in particular was invisible outside of his defensive work and didn't impose himself in any other way. I could be wrong. We'll see.
Dave one cannot discuss rugby with Pakie - he knows bu gger-all about the game, There was one thing I observed and that was the scrum supremacy was gone when De Jager was replaced by Mostert. Wonder why?
The power of Lodewyk was important even if he did ake mistakes. The bokkie have to go all in on the power game. Id maybe drop Etz for RG, because he has been a loafer. RG and Lodewyk.
Actually Lomp and Stephanie were toothless with the ball. As Lomp's tackle count soars Dud's declines.....just process tackles being divided up. But at least Lomp made his tackles....Stephanie was team high in misses.
Huge hype about these chaps, but they were only dominating in the lineouts, where they had up to 8 cms on their Japanese opponents.
Stick with moz.
the kicking must have been tactics I'm sure they wont do it vs better teams...
We'll know if it is complete autism, or, actual stroke of genius...
Faf was a little trooper - my league mates want to recruit him to the NRL - tough little unit and put on some great hits...
Fair MOM for me...
Just had another convo with my Leagie mate and he is convinced Faf is worth a million a season to come and play rugby league in Australia...
HE wants him at the broncos - far lesser athletes getting paid more -
@FAF contact me and I'll be your agent lol
Mozart's distortion of facts was always present, When the height of locks were discussed in the Namibia game he lied about that as well. The two Japan locks were 8 cm shorter than De Jager - 5cm shorter than Etzebeth, and 2 cm shorter than Du Toit, The question is in real life - does a small high difference like that makes a real difference in line-out performance.
Lets take the Irish and Scotland locks as examples. In both those tests the Japanese held their own to a Scottish lock the same height as Etzebeth and in the Irish tests one slightly taller than Etzebeth.
Although height is important the more important factor is height combined with physicality, That was one factor that impacts on line-out takes on own throw-ins - but equally so on opposition throw-ins. As far as I can recollect Labuschagne took a line-out off Mostert on Springbok throw-in yesterday so there goes the theory that only height count in line-out jumping.
Throughout the test yesterday the Springboks superiority in driving mauls were never questioned, The moment Mostert came on it was gone, Anther factor that Mozart totally ignored even though warned about it in the past,
Dave is totally justified in calling Mostert "powder puff".
