A thread about famous SA rugby families without a mention of the Morkel family?
Andrew, Boy, Dougie, Gerhard, Harry, Henry, Jacky, Pieter, Royal and Sommie were all brothers or cousins and all 10 played for the Springboks during the early 1900s.

There were also the Nels - who played in the 1930's and came from the Greytown area.I remember the story of PRT. He was the Springbok captain in 1938 tour of New Zealand and was regarded as a giant at the time. He was a 6'1" lock. Nowadays most backline players are much taller than that.

Interesting stuff gents. The fact that a 6'1" person could play lock is almost funny. I am 6'3" and am barely tall enough to play as a loosie!
Not to open a can of worms or anything, but down purely to an improved availability of food, and humans are a third bigger and taller than they were 2000 years ago. Seems pretty evolutionary to me.

Indeed bluebok, I wonder how the rabid anti-darwinists like Baboon-ou would explain this?
My guess is he'll churn out a whole lot of copy and pastes that talk about something else entirely and then pretend he's addressed the question . . followed by loads of emoticons which all claim that the atheists have been beaten again. That's what he normally does.
