Fanrasy Selections - Final Round and PLay-offs

Sasue and Rooinek I had a look at the transfer issue and the potential selections for the final Round Robin Round Robin round as well as the play-offs. As it stands at present and is unlikely to change to change - * The Cheetahs is on a bye in the next round; and * The Bulls and the Chiefs will not be in the play-off round. This present some serious problems for all participants depending on the limitations there is bound to be in the next three weeks. FOXSPORT I know this coming week will only cater for only three transfers - but what will be the case next week when there are only four teams going to play? These teams are likely to be the following:- * The Brumbies * The Crusaders * The Reds * The Cheetahs There is a slight possibility that the Brumbies and the Chiefs can exchange positions 2 and 3 if the Chiefs lose in their next game and the Brumbies win with a bonus point - in which event the Chiefs will be in the play-offs and not the Brumbies - however for all purposes one could not reasonably take that into account for selection purposes. The issue is what number of transfers will be made available for the play-offs. I took a quick look at the situation and if the four teams likely to be in the play-offs is to be taken into account - I would have to replace a total of 10 players over the next two weeks - I have only 5 definite players that could be in the play-offs. Even if I use this weeks transfers all to bring in play-off players - I would still be short next week of 7 players - that is without team changes and injuries - in the latter event I would be even more short. Looking at the selections for this week -you will even be worse off than me - since both of you would have to replace 13 players over the next two weeks. The key question is - how many transfer will be allowed for the play-offs and the semis and what will be the position insofar as the final is concerned. TEST RUGBY In this case I am in a jam already. I have only 1 player in the present squad and only 19 transfers left over from last week. I have to use two transfers to cater for the Cheetahs players I had in the squad leaving me with 17 transfers I have available. I can replace them with two players certain to be in the play-offs. But that would leave me with still nine vacancies in respect of the play-offs to be made. If that happens I would be left with only 8 transfers for the next semis and final. Indications are that the final may be between the Bulls and the Crusaders - so for the Round Robin Games on will have to concentrate on selection of Crusader players for the next round and hope for the best. However, the key question is - is the present transfers the last we will get for this competition?

oi--matey Thanks for that info. Test Rugby will be a real problem then. I think the only way to deal with the problem is to start now and get as many Crusaders players into the play-off stage and hope the Crusaders go through to the finals. You cannot do that with the other play-off teams - because their chances of getting through to the finals and the Chiefs and Bulls would most likely not be playing in the play-off stage and will only come into the picture in the semis

Sasue Thanks for your advice. There is already a facility on Superbru for result forecasts for the Championship. It would help a lot id you make provision for a league in that case. My premis is that the top 4 positions on the log will not change - that makes the Super 15 selections for Superbru this coming weekend very difficult - since the Bulls and Chiefs may be out of contention the next week. The matter is further complicared by the Cheetahs having an off this weekend. That is why I said it would b advisable to concentrate on selection from the Crusaders in the hope they will go through to the final. As to the Fosxport selections I am going to phase out some Blues players this weekend - both Luatua and Piutau were very poor against the Cheetahs and even Ranger was sub-standard. I know we have only three transfers this weekend - but it is likely that at least two of the three would be out of my selections. The other disappointment this weekend was Ben Smith. I think you must look out for us when Foxsport open a Championship competition and register a league - that would be of great help. In the case of the Championship on Test Rugby the present league would remain in force. Anyway - I do think that the Newlands match would be hard nut - but it may just happen that the Stormers say - OK we are out and select some up and coming youngsters to play. Meyer would definitely prefer the Springboks not to play this weekend in the case of injuries before the Championship and I think they would be under some pressure not to use players like De Villiers and Etzebeth. We will soon enough see what their team looks like for Saturday.

I have 26 trades left in testrugby with just two spots to fill this weekend.

 

My goal is that I have 24 trades going into the playoffs. That should be enough. Hopefully the 10 guys I still have all play this weekend then I can have 26 trades.
