I am not letting the cat out of the bag before tomorrow this tme about my selection changes - my friend Sasue is still 25 points ahead of me and if I do make changes - he may neutralise me in my chase after him.

I will say that I did make four rather surprising changes to the team this weekend and also changed my captain.  My team building exercise is working out well - since I could afford and did make the changes I originally envisaged for this week.   And I still have th required balance to make the next three changes next week - hopefully none of the players I pick would get injured and they will be in the team next week as well. And Etzebeth should be back next week and that would be a definite change by me.

I am on the ropes with the Test Rugby team - since I ran out of transfers.   Will only have ten playing  players in my squad this week - but if everything goes according to plan I will recover next week.  Three changes are already planned and there maybe more coming through depending on team selection and other factors.    After that I would have a settled squad I can change depending on byes and team selection.

@mikey,

i was a bit fortunate to save three transfers for testrugby, cos all three were needed with anscombe having a bye, coles bein injured and englebrecht on the bench.
i called in aride savea straight away to replace englbrecht, and im lenaing towards ged robinson for coles and lambie for ansocmbe.

would love to bring in blyendaal, but i know he will be replaced with carter who will be making a comeback for me next week against the force.

were u serious about ezebeth coming back next week or is that wishful thinking??? he was a very good scoring option in foxsport last year & someone i would consdier for testrugby.

my tactics for foxsport are well underway, every week i have reserved one transfer for my special ops mission and this week is no different.
havent finalised the team yet, but im definately getting rid of dagg and faumuina cos neither are starting this week and pek cown and hosea gear are the front runners to replace them.

interesting times there mikey, in the head to head rooinek and i are about to go another round, we were both beaten by lucis whose had a strong showing the last two weeks, so its very close in there.
have u considered changing ur team name mikey instead of having that code??? u can change it in the edit team details which is under the veiw rounds history on the right on the my team page, :o)

Sasue - if you don't use all your available transfers in Foxsport in a given week are the remaining ones rolled over to the following week or are they lost?

Sasue

The Etzebeth story is that he started training with the squad this week and will be in full training by next week - they may give him another week off - but he will definitely be playing in 14 days time.   I hope it is next week - but have the necessary capacity to change to him asap.

The changes I made this week are the following:-

*   Slipper to Beast  -  Slipper and Afeaki used to be my props, but both are having buys this week, so I had to change one of them.   I decided to rather keep Afeaki and put him on the bench.

*   George Smith to Matt Todd - Would have preferred to change to Cane - but the latter is on a bye.

*   Sarel Pretorius to Kobus Reinach -   Pretorius is like a jo-jo - up one week and down the next.  This is where I will try and bring in Genia after his bye.

*    Ben Smith to Hosea Gear - Smith is also playing jo-jo and he is in a poor team.  In such a team only the stronegest survive.

My planned changes for next week could be as follows:-

*    Bekker or Simmons to Etzebeth.   Would prefer to replace Simmons - but that leaves me with two Stormers players at lock and I have learnt one bitter lesson - never have two players from the same team in a category - so it is likely to be Bekker.    If Etzebeth's comeback is delayed - then the change will be delayed by one week.

*    Groom to Genia - really a problem and only possible if the finances permit

*    Jordaan to Brier or Richard Kuhai - would have preferred to do it this week - but preferred to let it ride for a week and rather made the other transfers ahead of this one.   Brier is very expensive and that may swing the selection to Kuhai - the latter is on a bye this week -- one reason for the delay.

*    If the Etzebeth change is delayed by a week - I may replace Robinson with Cooper purely for financial reasons - it is the only way I can bring Genia on board.

However, the above changes will all happen within the next two weeks at least.

My captain this week is Hosea Gear.  I suppose you are going to stick with Fourie as your captain.

@mikey,

thats some good news about ezebeth, cant wait to see that monster hit the field, coeztee can then start to rest bekker who has held the locking fort nicely.

some interesting transfers u got planned out there, im getting rid of charlie faumuina this week for ben franks & israel dagg for hosea gear. faumuinas injured and daggsn the bench, so that was a no brainer.
going to keep ben smith for one more week, but im bumping piutau tot hen bench.

also got rid of sopoaga from my bench for kyle godwin, needed tom strengthen my bench in case anything untowards struck my starting XV flyhalf christain leilafano.

the big move this week though was getting rid of vito who disappointed me big time last week for ardie savea.
normally i want to give brand new players a game or two to get sorted and what have u and judge their form accordingly. i should have followed this line of thinking considering that ardies older brother julian savea was average in his first spXV season, but a little gamble is needed & i couldnt rest on the laurels of being on top.

in the other foxsport league filled with kiwi bloggers, i am currently 3rd and was hurt last week big time as the front runners put a 100+ gap on me, :o(
so im hoping that ardie pays of for me big time in this regard too, :o/

Why can we not predict things correctly?   After a brilliant performance last week - I changed Ben Smith for Hosea Gear.   What a bloody disaster.   And I made him my captain too.   I always think a person should not pick players from weak teams - they are bound to let people down.

I thougt you were onto a good thing too by picking 3 Brumbies players.   Fortunately enough I did not pick any players in the relevant game.    Thta was not very wise - it seems to me now.   If you get 40 points of your three players you will be bloody lucky.   Alexander and George Snith each gaave away further penalties and that will tae Alexander into negative figures and George Smith into less than 10 points.   And Leafitano was not the brightest spark around either.

My problem is I have seven players in the Sharks - Crusaders game - so my eggs is really in one basket.

Oimatey, unused transfers in the Foxsport competition are lost and they don't carry over.

I've never been in the situation where I have unused Foxsport transfers myself so I'm not saying that from experience, but the rules state clearly that you are only permitted a maximum 4 transfers when 3 teams have a bye and 3 transfers when 1 team has a bye.

I can confirm that unused transfers in the Testrugby competition are carried over. If, for example, you had 5 unused transfers before this latest allocation of 20 transfers then you will now have 25 transfers in total.

Not to excited about this weekend as the last two weeks I have really buggered it up by having last minute changes in Starting lineups....... But here's my test rugby team for this weekend.

Ged Robinson

James Parsons

Andres Bekker

Luke Jones

Siya Kolisi

Lappies Labuschagne

Christian Lealiifano

Pat Lambie

Alf Mafie

Conrad Smith

James O'Connor

Charles Piutau

Looks like Piutau, Lealiifano, and Parsons all had strong games last night. So hopefully I pick it up this weekend.

@mikey,
ah what a life we could live with the gift of hindsight, LMAO, :oD
if u remember that post of mine about the averages players get, it dosnet hurt to stick with known performers.
im filthy with myself for letting u influence me though with the gear slection, the logic behind gear was sound, but i was well aware that he has perforamnces similar to last night, even more filthy considering i left piutau on the bench who had a real great game too.

it makes sense to pick players from teams playing the kings, IMO that formula will pay of more often then not. but ben alexander was only in my team cos i didnt have enough transfers to get rid of him. this week he is on top of the transfer list.

@rooinek & oimatey,
transfers in foxsport dont carry over, its use it or lose it.

im really liking the dynamics involved in both fantasy leagues, tactical nous of the highest order is required and a little bit of luck.

congrats to the kings too, their efforts have slingshot the chiefs on top of the conference.

 Thanks Rooi and Sasue

Was holding out hope that was not the case. Would be nice to bank some transfers for Round 17. Thats going to be a bear trying to get an all-Aussie lineup and then switch it out for an all-SA/NZ one in Round 18. Really should have two wildcards, especially when Deans is talking about pulling out potential Wannabies even before Round 17 - makes it really hard to setup a bench in anticipation of that.

How the hell can anybody get the Foxsport selections right?   Last week Matt Todd was brilliant against the Stormers - this week jhe was aboslute SHIT in capital letters.   The same with Sam Whitelock - he really did nothing of note other than taking two line-outs.  A 20 year-old rookie outplayed him comprehensively today.

How did I do it - I think I must learn a few tricks of the trade.   With rare exceptions stay away from the New Zealand tight five players - they can cost you dearly.   I should have skept Geoge Smith - he also was nothing much today - but miles better than Todd.   Despite the one penalty he gave away - I think Coetzee had a good game today and so did Lambie.   I will keep Labuschagne as the other loosie - but move on to Cane asap - that is if he is selected regularly.

After today I have changed my mind - I am going to sell Whitelock and go for Du Toit.   I'll keep Reinach and go for Genia.   Wait another week and buy Etzebeth - should be back soon.

I am at wits end about the New Zealand backline players.  Last week Savea was no good - the week before excellent.  Same with Ben Smith - not really top class - but a heck of a lot better than Gear was today.   I think I am going with rare exceptions get rid of players from under-performing teams  like the Highlanders, the Force, the Rebels and the Kings.   Matter of fact at this stage I have no players from the latter latter three teams in my Foxsport selections.

I have an over-supply of Sharks players in my team - at present five and have to get rid one of them to accommodate Du Toit.  The player on my shortlist for that is Jordaan - but replacement is problematic.

Waaaahahahahahahahaa......OOM Mike!! On another string he is telling us Jordaan was better than Fruean, but on this "insiders" string, he has Jordaan on his shortlist to be dumped. The man is a tonic!

What are you doing on this site?  You are asked not to come here because it bores you.   After looking at the final point allocation for tonights game - I have changed my mind on Jordaan - he stays.  .  I will rather dispose of Beast - since if I buy Du Toit - I will have 6 Sharks players and am only allowed 5.

Anyway read elsewhere about what really happened and hope you can at least apologize or writing pure bullshit.

Moz. It's a lot more complicated then that. In "pools" or "fantasy" sports it's more difficult then just picking the players you rate highly. You have a budget, or limitations and have to work within them. Sometimes the player you rate highly is to expensive and doesn't fit into your plans so you have to go with the second chioce. You're not not picking that certain player because you think they are bad.

Canrugby

Thanks for explaining it in detail.  Maybe he would understand it by now.

Something weird happened.   I went into the Foxsport site and they gave the revise details of the point allocations to players.   I then wnet out of the site and wanted to check some info and then found the unrevised points on the ste.   I do not know what really happened in that case.  It is the first time it ever happened.

Normally the system works as follows - or at least that is how I understand it.

During the game and at the end of the game - there are basic point allocations made.   Those are then checked against the game particulars and then revised.   The increase in points would be based on a much more definitive viewing of each player's activities on the field of play.  There is normally a substantial increase in points allocated compared to the initial stats.   After that the points is finally audited and final allocations confirmed.  In the case of the third analysis points can be increased or reduced - but changes are fairly limited in extent.

The points that vanished from the site is the second allocation - I wonder why?   I was quite happy about the poimts scored in the Sharks - Crusaders game that I saw earlier - but it is gone.  Must be a computer program problem at foxsport - cannot think of anything else.

Thanks Can,  I accept that, but I can't imagine Jordaan will be expensive after that impotent performance. I doubt many fantasy players want #13 centres who can't defend the outside gap.

Oops you put your foot against in it - go and read the stats on the game and then repond.

Sasue

I am very pleased about one thing this week on the Test Rugby selections.   I got 300 bonus points for ries scored thus far - 2 by Savea and 1 by Ben Smith.   If Bekker can come up with 2 more or even Labuschagne then I will get 500 bonus points.   Nice going - despite th fact that I have had only 10 players realy playing in the team.

Looking at the points situation thus far - I think that I doid well on the players that actually played.   They were -

James Parsons - probably the 2nd lowest scorer

Sam Whitelock -  probably the lowest scorer

Leafitano

Lambie

Conrad Smith

Julian Savea

Ben Smith
