I think there are some problems encountered by most participants and we need perhaps have a look at some players performances when considering the situation.
Insofar as myself is concerned, I made some really poor choices this past weekend. I went for the following All Black players in my starting line up:-
Whitelock. Luatua, Aaron Smith, Carter, Conrad Smith and Ben Smith.
I also went for Cummins and Folau as well and had Hooper at Flank - whilst I had De Villiers at center and Le Roux at OB on the bench.
Now lets look at Conrad Smith - insofar as I am concerned - a serious disappointment:-
his scores over the last three games were as follows:-
* Australia - away = 43 points
* Australia at home = 12 points
* Argentinia at home = 11 points
Sorry - but the first guy out of my selections this coming week would be Conrad Smith.
The other disappointment was Israel Dagg. He managed to get 26 point in three tests - reflecting very much also how he performed this year on Super 15 level. Bad guy too follow that one.
I made the mistake of going with Smith ahead of De Villiers and Cummins ahead of Le Roux this past weekend. The issue I worried about was Le Roux being on the wing after 2 iffy games against Argentina - and obviously the fact that he did not create much in both games (15 point in total) . Maybe one should bear in mind that Le Roux is a very clever playmaker and gamble on him on Saturday.
Be it as it may - the one definite change I am making on Saturday is to get rid of Conrad Smith and bring in Kieran Read - ahead of Hooper. I am also considering Vermeulen ahead of Louw on the bench as a loosie - none of the SA loosies make in fact any appeal in respect of the starting line-up. The other remaining AB that may make an impact is Owen Franks as a prop - he is by far the best AB prop on display - but that will depend on whether he I fit to play on Saturday - if not - I am going to stick with James Slipper.
