The Bulls received a boost ahead of Saturday's clash with the Sharks in Durban with the news that last weekend's 35-18 victory over the Highlanders did not produce any serious injuries.

Team doctor Org Strauss confirmed, however, that several players were recovering from bruises and light strains sustained in that match.

Players with niggling injuries were given a rest on Monday to ensure they were fit for the weekend's Super Rugby fixture against the Sharks in Durban.

Flip van der Merwe (calf), Francois Hougaard (knee), Werner Kruger (flu), Jan Serfontein (lower leg), Dewald Potgieter (knee), Frik Kirsten, Juandre Kruger (hamstring) and Lionel Mapoe (knee) would be back in training on Tuesday.

Fly-half Louis Fouche, who sustained a hip injury, was the doctor's biggest concern and a call on Fouche's fitness would be made on Wednesday.

Hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle would be given an extra day to recover from a bruised knee and return to the field on Wednesday.

Jacques Potgieter and Dean Greyling had been declared fit following ailments last week and a specialist would, this week, determine when full-back Zane Kirchner could return.

Kirchner underwent an operation on his finger after he dislocated it against the Brumbies at the end of March.

The screw in his finger was removed on Friday and he should be fit to play "sooner rather than later", the Bulls said in a statement.

The Bulls have an almost first choice team.

No Kirchner but that is probably a blessing not in disguise.

Same as for Donkey "Dewald" Potgieter, Arno Botha should be starting.

Not looking great for the Sharks hospital infirmary, and out of form fit players.
