After a match high 15 and 2 tackles for Bath on Saturday Louw has returned to the Bok fold. This from SARugbymag: 'Bath-based flank Francois Louw is back with the Springboks and trained with the team at Loftus Versfeld on Monday. Louw was only expected to be available for the first four Tests of the Rugby Championship, but has rejoined the squad ahead of Saturday’s match against the All Blacks.' That seems to put a new light on the Louw 'dropping' trumpeted on the Board last week. Face it van Staden was out of his league and Notshe is unsubstantial at best.

Moz, I was always a Flo fan, but he is a bit slow and he's way past his best...but not over the hill like some would make him out to be. There is lots to be said for solid.

Van Staden looks ponderous and passive. Notshe would be easier to evaluate if he bothered to do anything.

This is really the most stupid thing Erasmus could ever have done.   I am sorry he made this mistake and one should hope that Louw is not in the match days squad.

There is nothing wrong with Louw's speed. More than anything, he looked out of sorts for a couple of games.

I liked what I've seen of Van Staden in this year's SR, but he has not used his opportunities in the RC. Not a good sign.

Van Staden has so far proven to be useless. This is probably why Flouw has been given the SOS.
I was a Flouw fan, but he may well be past his sell-by date, and seemed to be on a Sunday stroll nearby whenever the opposition scored a try.

McCaw, Pocock, Warburton, Brussow, Stegmann etc weren't/aren't speedy flanks. McCaw spoke about this, economy of movement. Its how you move from ruck to ruck etc.

Mozart and AO

Don't be over the moon - Louw would never have been back if Whiteley and Coetzee was not out injured.   He was as useless in the tests thus far this year as can be.

I am sure Erasmus would find the solution soon.

Hahaha....Liarmike falling apart on Louw. Draad go back and look at the first Bargie test and watch Louw hunt down the Bargie scrumhalf from behind. I agree he may have lost a step but he is still first to the breakdown mostly.

Mozart - Louw hunting down anybody is a stretch of your imagination.

And what about the poor Louw tackle count and high missed tackle ratio.   He was as useful as a water bottle for the team.

Moz, I'm not slating him, he is clever enough to compensate for his lack of pace, but he is not the player he was a few years ago...still a backup, but we need to find a replacement ASAP. Pity they don't rate Cloete, man, that guy puts in effort in every match.

Who are you to talk about tackling when you denied Steph's poor fringe defence? When you are willing to deal with that, then we can talk, until then you are too compromised to speak on the subject.

AO

Du Toit regularly made 300 to 400% more effective tackles than Louw did.   He tries tackles that other players would not try to make and that is the reason for his higher number of missed tackles.

Just answer me one simple question - do you want Louw to rep lace Du Toit at 7?

Van Staden looked okay in the first Puma test, but was absolutely nowhere against Australia. Very disappointing. Similarly to Kwagga's Welsh test. Anonymous to ponderous.

Cloete was showing potential, but the first chance to improve his salary he jumped ship, so he is too a large degree an unknown entity- at least to SA fans. I think he did play for the low key Kings at one stage, and may have been a factor in them having one good season- before Chieka Watson finished them off.

It sounds wonderful - that' second most turnovers.   Most were against the minnow teams and the average was less than 2 turnovers per game.   What makes it even more hilarious is that in all tests  this year Louw made 1 turnover,

Funny also is that De Allende made the third highest number turnovers even though he played in less tests than Louw did.   Two of his turnovers was against the AB's - Louw none against the same team.   De Allende is constantly demonized and the praise songs in favour of Louw deafening,  One must wonder about how sick minds work!!!!!!!

Mozart was asked a simple question above - does he want Louw replacing Du Toit in the next test?   An honest answer is required - but will probably not be given as  he is totally dishones t

Amazing how one of our Boks, one of pitifully few who topped any lists during WC2015, gets denigrated for his achievement. Just four turnovers less than arguably the player of the tournament Pocock, but let's pretend it's no achievement at all.

This is a common thing Pakie. Look at Mornè, who matched Lambie's reputation more than he did. The plastics fabricate events to relativistically justify their Ill founded emotions. Schalk was also one of our best players in that tournament. Look how he was attacked. It took gushing reviews from foreigners before they accepted Juan, Du Preez and Butch. Before the 2007 WC everyone knew that Juan was a carthorse, Due Preez was a proponent of dinosaur rugby, Butch wasn't going to spark our attack. The plastics wanted Ruan and Pretorius. Naas was one of these. Then in 2008 it was highball Jantjes and Watson again, along with porous Jacobs over Fourie.

@Lügnerin : Damian's work at the breakdown was pointed out by others before you noticed it. However, it's not enough to justify his selection at 12. We haven't seen much of his breakdown ability for a while now. Not once this year. Are you suggesting we play Damian at 6? Overall, the Boks have gained nothing from playing Damian. He continually turns up in bad moments. He is another myth built up by the media.

Two of his turnovers was against the AB's - Louw none against the same team.

This is a lie, so by the way. In a Ruck Science video called "Best turnovers of the RWC 2015" Louw features at #15 making a turnover against the All Blacks at minute 21:18 right under Kieran Read's nose. I can't be bothered to watch the whole game again, but that's at least one. The commentators also noted that Louw had been a "menace" when he was substituted in that game.

Sorry I was wrong about the one turnover then - - but what were the other 12?

However 2015 was three years ago and this year your hero made exactly one turnover.   How do you support that or is it another case of idiotic reputation selections, despite his poor tackle count and miserable mtr.

Come now Mozart, AO and Pakie may get your wish granted that he replaces Du Toit at 7 - so be happy and watch him fail again as  he did in all tests this year.    You three will then find excuses to cover up his failures - mostly through distortion as is normal with the three of you.

I never said I wanted Louw at 7. I actually said he'd find it hard to make it into the starting XV. So I haven't campaigned for Louw at any point this year.

I did say I would like to see Mostert at 7. That would upgrade our pack considering Snyman would be 5. At this point I'd be happy with du Toit at 7 and Snyman at 5. I've expressed this for nearly two months now.

What excuses have I made? There have been no excuses for anyone. An excuse is looking to blame someone or something else for a player's failings. I have never done that. I do look to the root cause and find the context of every game situation. This is something you particularly loath. I do recall your assertion that Faf was to blame for Damian's ineffective showning against Australia.

If you had paid attention, you would have noticed that pretty much all of us are questioning his ability to perform at this level now and are in agreement about him being off the boil in the second Argie and first Aus tests (although he was solid in the first Argie test and outstanding on defence in the death throes of the All Black game, making 10 tackles in 15 minutes).
Having said that, looking at Van Staden's invisible man act on Saturday, I'd still much rather have Louw on the bench than him.

Pakie

I assumed that you would be in the same league as Mozart and AO in this case as you normally are.   You seem to have grasped the logic at last.

With Whiteley absent I would rather select the following loosie combination:-

6   Kolisi, 7  Louw, 8  Du Toit, 20  Notshe

Not ideal - but it may help in the interim until a real solution to the loosie debacle is found.

At this stage we have a chance to beat NZ twice. This is not the moment to experiment. Keep the pack the same, but replace the non contributing Notshe with Louw.

Mozart

When Louw was previously selected at 8 he never scrummed down in that position - he scrummed down at 7.   In all other aspects  of play Du Toit was effectively the no 8 - while Louw was fumbling around.

Louw is far too pace-deficient to ever be an 8.

Two examples of Notshe's poor breakdown work on Saturday:

12:39 Esterhuizen breaks inside, Pocock and Hanigan over the ball. Notshe, instead of trying to clean them off the ball, simply pushes his head into the ruck, flopping down in front of Marx trying to get to Hanigan. Penalty Aus.

14:44 Kolbe into traffic, Pocock and Hooper over the ball. Notshe and then Kolisi too flops straight down into the ruck without challenging the fetchers, and another penalty Aus.

Then you missed the tests where Louw was picked at 8 and played at 7 for the whole game.

Is the tall Read a poor 8 because he is too tall?   And then there was a string of tall SA players like Spies and Rossouw who also played at 8.   So is this a new invention by you?
