Looking at the international flyhalfs this weekendI must say that none of the flyhalfs this weekend showed anything much to write home about and I wish to comment as follows:-

New Zealand

The best New Zealand flyhalf was Cruden - he at least show some progress when the steam ran put of the Cheetahs in the second half.   In the first half he was ordinary and not really a house on fire.   Carter was in fact not showing anything at all of value both in attack and defence.   Barrett really was clueless.

Australia

Both Cooper and Beale was average to poor in some aspects of the game.  Cooper nearly lost the Reds game all by himself by throwing the ball against the goal post.

South Africa

After four years of playing  in Super 15 Morne Steyn scored his fourh try in that competiton.   His kicking game at goal was not that impressive - missing two conversion kicks at goal.  His attacking backline play was on the whole poor and he stiill has all the attributes that makes him an average flyhalf.   On the day he was better than the rest of the SA flyhalfs only because he managed to score that try.   Lambie was bog ordinary - he really tried nothing himself - he was not an elelment at all in attacking play and was more like Steyn is all the time.   Goosen had a poor game - even when his forwards were keeping the Cheetahs in the game - is goalkicking really is atrocious.   Jantjies was a disgrac,

Ja Mike, in some way I agree.  Our flyhalf play is without flair. Goosen is not living up to the big name the media painted for him. My bru Elton is stil grieving and will do so until he plays better it is mos a lekka excuse ek sê.

Most underated is Catrakilis.  Most over rated is Grant - what did he do different when he came on to rescue the Stormers?

Going to a war I would still pick Steyn because he is calmer and still better than the young players at 10.

Freddie With a donkey kicking Steyn we have no chance ever in a test. Watch out for the disaster next week when the Bulls have to play the Blues. The Blues will run at the Bulls evertime Steyn kicks aimlessly and that would be disastrous for them. Problem with Steyn is his believe that kicking is virtually the only game to be played - he is so preitable it is a pain to watch him play.
